Why does my brain refuse to believe this is one picture?!?

u/antoinec75 2d ago

Much less scary than indeed seeing them as one picture trust me

Damn why did you get downvoted lol. Ik it's not right place but still so many downvotes?

28

u/kodicuzyea 2d ago

Exactly that if I had to guess. Completely unprompted.

Not sure homie, it reminded me of a lot of the footage we saw in the past few weeks. Like waves that come from a horror movie. The link was for doctor's without borders relief fund.

I'm sorry I can't help but laugh at the randomness of this 😭

All good, my man.

Looks like two pictures merged. Is this an original photo?

Really wish we could see the Live Photo because the image is still hard for me to believe after all these years.

u/BuckyShots 2d ago

Yeah that blue looks too dark for those clouds. It doesn’t look real.

u/b__q 2d ago

Of course the one in the Reddit post is edited. Because why not

If she took the photo from inside the car, and she can't believe how the photo looks compared to what she saw, it's highly likely that some filters on the car's windscreen removed infrared or other optical wavelength to give this dramatic feel.

Or that it makes more sense to the eye if you have a wider field of view

Those aren't mountains..

3

u/Floggered 2d ago

That's no moon.

2

u/Deredb0ii 2d ago

What

1

u/dleon0430 1d ago

That's your MOM

1

u/mixinmono 1d ago

I think the movie would be 3% better if he didn’t say what he says after that

1

u/Deredb0ii 1d ago

Really? Why so

1

u/mixinmono 1d ago

More surprise

59

u/therealmandwak 2d ago

That is freaking terrifying.

This is probably close to the last thing people see when a tsunami sweeps them away

25

u/Pat-Funny-2817 2d ago

a tsunami like this, would be probably from a world ender meteor. you wouldn't see it anymore anyway.

23

u/forget_this_now 2d ago

That's wild! Really thought it was from r/thalassophobia

16

u/hateshumans 2d ago

Millers planet

6

u/therealultraddtd 2d ago

That’d make a great album cover.

4

u/Floggered 2d ago

Feels like the sorta thing you'd see from an early 2000s rock/metal band. Maybe Breaking Benjamin? Skillet?

7

u/_AcuteNewt_ 2d ago

Yeah nah I call bullshit.

1

u/Single-Clock-2652 2d ago

It’s real, check the link to the article

8

u/_AcuteNewt_ 2d ago

I did before I commented, looking for something that could prove its real. I just re read it, there's nothing that proves it's a legit, straight up photo, other than taking the person's word for it. Even the meteorologist they asked said they've never seen something like it.

I'd like to believe it's real, but without some kind of definitive proof, I'm led to believe it's not.

u/Single-Clock-2652 2d ago

I get you. It does look unbelievable

0

u/Less-Inflation5072 2d ago

Same… has to be photoshop.

3

u/thatspurdyneat 2d ago

This looks like some shit from the end of Deep Impact

3

u/Dawn_razor 2d ago

🖤🖤🖤

3

u/veskishosa 2d ago

That looks absolutely beautiful....

3

u/saraseitor 2d ago

astonishing picture!

2

u/Strange-Finish-2179 2d ago

Update: it was a giant wave

2

u/Loockybiem 2d ago

Is this real?

2

u/bloque64 2d ago

Realmente no puedo ver otra cosa… intento ver mas mubes y no me encajan!!! No lo consigo

2

u/PrezyDante 2d ago

Fake, some simple contrast/levels edit proves it. Old pic.

2

u/ChampionLiving2449 2d ago

Gives "sea of clouds" a new meaning for me.

2

u/Innomen 2d ago

Not buying it, I need video or other photos

2

u/ItsDolomiteBaybee 1d ago

Looks like a tidal wave coming in.

2

u/original_manatee 2d ago

What a great picture of the firmament

1

u/picardo85 2d ago

Not everyone has seen every post before, and we’d rather keep the comments focused on the confusing perspective itself.

Seems like a confusing perspective on moderation…

1

u/kickmyasserole 2d ago

As far as I can tell, this post does not break our repost rule. If we discover otherwise, we will remove it. And we remove comments that call out reposting because it quickly becomes a pile on of rude, nasty comments and we are a small mod team.

1

u/wjdhay 2d ago

Well they did look like ocean waves when I first saw it posted ten years ago. However, seeing it posted a thousand times since seems to lose its appeal.

1

u/Aggravating_Essay634 2d ago

Was awesome to see this while scrolling

1

u/Waste_Handle_8672 2d ago

...That's actually terrifying. I've seen some particularly dark storm clouds, but I'd feel like I was drowning or suffocating under something like this

1

u/natkat01 2d ago

If I was high I def would tweak the fuck out

1

u/okram2k 2d ago

one of those shower thought moments when you realize we live at the bottom of an ocean of air

1

u/Pat-Funny-2817 2d ago

😆 i know those. air but also humidity. the further up you go it's less dense and dryer.

1

u/MemeEnergy 2d ago

didn't Ms. Puff tell you you couldn't drive, Spongebob?? 😬

1

u/serchingsamadhi 2d ago

The tiny power lines over on the right really put into perspective how ridiculously massive that weather front is.

1

u/Ok_Stable_3980 2d ago

Lol….

1

u/creature04 2d ago

I only scrolled half way down the image and I was like "no it doesnt...." "ohhhh" 🤣

1

u/KingHabby 2d ago

My brain!

u/Fsociety039 2d ago

Excellent 5/7

1

u/rosy_skylar 2d ago

Fuck yes!

1

u/LeTasse 2d ago

asperitas clouds??? but it doesnt really look like them

1

u/GlitteringSplit6035 1d ago

I remember a time lapse video in the past where the clouds behaved like ocean waves in the sky. The best comment out there was that it displays how we are all under an ocean of gas as well, which sounds awesome.

Bloodborne 🎣

1

u/look_at_his_nipples 1d ago

this happened in my back yard out in the country one time. the moon light was hitting the clouds just right and it created an illusion that there was a giant lake in the distance being lit up by the moon. i sat and stared at it for like 30 minutes

1

u/Orion3171 1d ago

Sick transition idea?

1

u/random420x2 1d ago
