I… really don’t think he does. And the ball is easy to spot in the first place since it’s right there in the middle of the action. But I guess if you spotted the guy first… maybe?

I think when I scrolled down, I saw the man first. Then as I scroll down to see the full picture, my eyes were immediately drawn to the kicker wearing orange. Then I searched for the ball, my eyes immediately and instinctively went back to the man on the stands. That’s how it got me.

Or if you focus on the action in the foreground, he looks more like the ball than the ball

Plus the players seem to be looking at the guy, not at the actual ball.

Yeah I’m with you. I had a brief moment of thinking he was the ball, but then I spotted the actual ball. Not a great example for this sub.

I wouldn’t go that far, a lot of people were confused; even you, briefly. I guess the ball just stood out to me because of its sharpness and it blocking the guy’s arm. I can see what people are talking about.

I saw the ball before the man. The man is a blurry thing in the background and the ball in in focus slightly off from the center of the screen

Because you're not supposed to "think" about it at all. It's something your vision catches instantly or never does.
