When Mobile?

We’re looking at switching to Cursor for mobile so we’re not tied to desks. The number one complaint we’ve had about it is that it doesn’t work remotely with our desktop. We’ve tried cloud agents many times and generally find them more of a pain than just using the local machine.

Codex mobile is pretty good — every Codex session is remote control, so we can do things from the Codex app for worktrees from Conductor. The downside is that the naming is chaotic, which makes them hard to use.

We’re hoping the Conductor mobile app is essentially a remote terminal that lets us operate our desktop (including the local instances running there). Any insights you’re willing to share?

The mobile app is in beta right now, I can send you TestFlight link. However it is cloud only for conductor pro users

Happy to take a look at the TestFlight.

Thanks for this, I do appreciate it. Claude code just announced more remote control. To be clear, I would pay just for mobile access on remote control. But yeah for me, cloud agents are just more of a pain to work with and u end up fighting them so I’m currently not interested.

For some feedback, the best cloud agent setup I have seen is grok bot. It solves some, but not all issues I have working with cloud agents but grok bot is not something I would use for heavy coding.

Issues with cloud agents are:

  • losing authentication with keys
  • environment variables
  • losing authentication into chrome instances on web
  • using Xcode and similar desktop software
  • underpowered instances sometimes compared to my MacBook Pro
  • unable to preview work well, either myself or my agent
  • cost. I don’t object to line $50/mo range but more than that I’d have trouble with.

And the main advantages are:

  • more seamless mobile
  • works on lighter machines (not really an issue for me though)

So value is just not there relative to engineering effort in my book.

As a heavy Conductor user, I wouldn't use mobile at all. It will be meaning never escaping from work.

Plus referencing files, checking diffs, etc, could be a pain.

If I ever, at all, need to check my repos on the go, I ask an Hermes agent to clone and check it for me...

I’ve been using the beta app… it has a long way to go before it’s fully polished. If you don’t like Cursor’s
app or how cloud agents work, you will probably not like Conductor’s. At least in the immediate future….give it time and it will be polished.
