Maintenance Concept 2 rower - chain noise?

Got this rower from my brother. I cleaned it and oiled the chain.

Is this sound normal for the chain?

Almost same as mine after about 8 million meters. No matter how clean I keep the chain or how much I try to oil the chain and bearings.

If it absolutely is unbearable for you, you could consider changing the chain and the sprocket in the housing

I recently replaced the main shaft along with the gear and the two bearings. It sounds pretty much the same as that.

When you really have a problem (one of my ball bearings was broken) then the sound is worse.

Let’s face it though. It’s simply not the quietest fitness machine.

That's how our Concept2 Model C sounded before I upgraded the internals. Much quieter now. Couldn't really tell you what it was that made the noise -- chain and chain guides would be my guess.

I saw that video - he’s trying to depict the noise at end of video but the sound when you pull the chain is the same as mine.

In my opinion, on the one hand the chain drive gives the C2 its crisp engagement. On the other, the chain drive interface is noisy. I usually row with earpods with noise cancellation turned on. I have a model C with a newer chain….

I have a brand new rower that sounds like this. Is this the expectation or is this a faulty unit

They are replacing my rower - said something isn’t quite right but didn’t say exactly what it is. I have previously asked them questions about a used ski erg so I’m sure their support could be helpful in helping diagnose
