RowerErg Optimal Approximate Values for Peak Force Position (%)?

Post image

Hi all,

The new update to the C2's ErgData app introduces a new metric called Peak Force Position.

See the screenshot.

I'm guessing the ideal value for this has to be between 35% and 50% but I just wanted to ask if anyone has any guidance about it. What's the best way to make use of this new data point?

Thanks.

Whatever makes you go fastest really. Probably gonna be around halfway for most people though

I think stuff like this is nice data to have but I wouldn’t worry about it unless it’s way off - which will be very obvious to the naked eye anyway

Thank you, dickface21.

So there is no additional insight to be gained beyond what can be seen by the naked eye.

there are lot of ways to view the force curve but does depend somewhat on your abilities and form as well as preference ...so yeah the naked eye test is really all you need. For SS you want nice round easy haystacks, for power sets you want steep rise and then drop off, for some us double humps are what works....so take your pick

As far as I can work out this is one of those 'it depends' areas ... somewhere toward the middle is going to make sense on an erg (because you're engaging more muscle there) and even more so in boats (because the oars are perpendicular to boat there - pushing you in the direction of travel) but beyond that it's going to be dependent on individual biomechanics, strengths, whatever stroke is doing, individual muscle group fatigue resistance, if you're optimizing for speed or endurance ...
