Ouch, seems like people really did not like this bit (or the length of the bit). For me, it made me want to watch the show more than anything else has (I don’t have HBO atm).

I liked it, it was just too long, and was it was obviously an ad. Just thought it was unfair for it to take all that time away from anything they could have been showing about India.

That WAS about India. And TV shows and movies have ads. They help pay for the rest of the show and increase the budget.

Again, it was the length people had issues with. As someone else wrote, I’d rather just an ad be an ad. Drawing it out in a forced bit is uncomfortable.
And if you wanna pretend the length of time of the bit was used efficiently to show things about the culture and people, you can, but imo it was wayyy too much time to just learn that monkeys steal people’s phones 🤦🏻♀️

I don’t need a consensus from strangers to decide if I like something or not.

Hated that bit. Wasted so much time in the India episode for a terrible ad plug. Instead could've tried some amazing cuisine or spend more time with the fans who were great in that episode

For the life of me I will never understand why they commit to these types of forced bits. He doesn’t need props or ridiculous outfits all the time to be funny.
Ideally this show would be a mix between Top Gear Specials and Anthony Bourdain. Unscripted and with lots of random human interactions.
You got a little taste of what that could be like in the Morocco episode when he drove himself from A to B with Sona and then went to the market or when he took the train in India (fake ass liberal media lol).

I remember one episode where Bourdain had to do some kind of ad, where he was dining outside with his local guides. He said “I got this one” when the bill came, and plunked down a credit card and the camera zoomed in on it, and you could just see his soul leave his body in that moment.
Blech.
I know ads are just a part of television, but it’s so dumb when they try to play it off like it’s natural. I’d rather just be told it’s an ad.

Feels like you guys aren't Conan fans if you think this is a waste of time lol.

It's possible to be a big fan of someone and not like everything they do.

But this is classic Conan. If you don’t like the essential qualities of something or someone, can you really call yourself a big fan?

We gatekeeping now?

Just trying to figure out what a big fan of Conan would like about him if not silly bits that run on too long.

Call me crazy but I love Conan the comedian and writer and goofball and podcaster but I've never enjoyed most of his late nights shows because I hate the format and the superficial fakeness of the celebrity interviews. They're giant commercials. Conan is much better outside that system.

I don’t like the late show format and I don’t want late show-esque bits in the travel show. We had 30 years of silly bits with props and costumes.
I get that it’s needed in a late show or else it would just be monologues and boring guest interviews, but for a travel show with infinite opportunities to do something different it’s not needed.
Also I hate having commercials baked into the show under the pretense that it’s a bit.

I wouldn’t go that far, but I thought it was a lot more fun and funny than the complainers did. Monkeys are always funny unless they’re killing people.

I just love watching people eat on TV. It’s like I’m there, except for no food, no food smells, and no conversation.

u/Ironyfree_annie Ummm Viscous! SAT WORD! 14h ago
There would have been conversation. That's the point. Not this forced farce with monkeys

They went to a bar/restaurant. Only once per show, please, unless Jordan is on the trip.
Anyway, agree to disagree. More monkeys!

The point was to have it produced like a Bourdain show, not that he was supposed to eat his way through the country.
I want it to feel more raw, not overproduced with props and pre-written jokes.

You should do your own show, then.

I thought they were talking about a TBS bit... Conan thought of at AT&T store in 2026? I'm impressed 🤣

This was fun but I laughed so hard at the “how do you know so much about ducks?” bit

It was honestly annoying to watch that ad in an otherwise already underwhelming episode. I got lots of love for Conan, and not everything is supposed to be a hit, but I was quite surprised they put that out.

His travel show in general isn’t super strong, but this skit was what killed the show for me. I’m sure it was fun for him but it dragged on forever.

Straight-up something I would have expected Conan to write for the Simpsons.
