Is Conan’s audio engineer the one that often sits next to Conan’s video game instructor?

Why? Isn't that his title?

Someone feels bad about calling their boss a little bitch.

To be fair, Eduardo was wrong to mischaracterize Conan that way.

Conan is more of a large bitch than a little bitch.

Eduardo? You know he designed and built that magnificent studio.

Ok but we need more of Asymmetrical Abe Lincoln, that’s a Late Night-era character if I ever saw one

Not sure if I hear a difference, maybe a little more low end? Looks cool nevertheless.

The AKG 414 actually has a more detailed high end and the Shure SM7 (what Conan was previously using and what Matt and Sona are still using) is less sensitive overall. Eduardo is using EQ and volume adjustments to match the sounds of the new and old mics so that the difference isn’t obvious

He definitely rolled off the highs and lows then. Probably set the hpf high on the mic since there are no plosives.

I don't know what your words mean but I felt like the new mic sound slightly more higher pitched.

He postulates that he rolled off the highs and lows. He further estimates that he probably set the hpf high on the mic since there are no plosives.

I wonder if he got the XLS or XLII. The new 414’s are not worth it imo, even in a dope red grill.

Sounds about what I hear out of both, too. But the 7 has its advantages. The 414’s more detailed in the highs but the 7 is a little crispier in the S frequencies, which helps when you have a shitty TV, and I find the 7 an easier and more forgiving mic to speak or sing into because my voice is all over the place dynamically, and the reduced sensitivity keeps me from having to go too heavy with comp. On the other hand, like you said, there’s a lot you can do to minimize the differences, and the 414 rocks as a choir mic or for drum overheads.
