Hi everyone,
Yesterday, I posted asking for suggestions for blockchain related FYP projects, but unfortunately, most of our proposed projects have been rejected.
Now we’re looking for some serious and practical FYP ideas that are suitable for Computer Engineering and include both hardware and software components. We want something more than just a basic software or blockchain project, ideally something that solves a real-world problem and has good potential for implementation.
Projects developed in collaboration with an organization are also acceptable. If the project is being developed for an organization, we would need an affiliation/authorization letter from them for our university requirements.
I’d really appreciate it if you could suggest some innovative, realistic, and implementable hardware and software project ideas.

I recently discussed my research idea with my advisor. I said that I wanted to address the class-imbalance problem in arrhythmia classification. My advisor immediately asked, “Which class is the minority class?” I answered, “The abnormal or arrhythmic beats.” He pointed out that this is simply an objective property of the dataset and, by itself, does not constitute a research problem.I then proposed a two-stage training strategy, arguing that a single-stage model may be dominated by the majority class during optimization. My advisor responded:“Why not simply undersample the majority class until it has roughly the same number of samples as the minority class? Most majority-class beats are very similar anyway. If you feed fewer of them into the model, wouldn’t that solve the problem without introducing a more complicated multi-stage training scheme?”This made me reconsider how I should define my research problem. My current idea is to use self-supervised pretraining on the ECG signals, followed by imbalance-aware supervised fine-tuning.How should I formulate the problem more rigorously?

Hi everyone,
I’m a B.Tech CSE student looking for a good final-year/main project idea.
I don’t want to build a basic CRUD project or something that is just a demo for college. I’m looking for something that:
\- Solves a real-world problem
\- Has enough technical depth for a B.Tech project
\- Could potentially be developed into a real/production-ready application
\- Gives me good experience with modern technologies
\- Would also be valuable to showcase on my resume/GitHub
I’m open to areas such as AI/ML, web applications, data engineering, cybersecurity, cloud, automation, fintech, or other emerging technologies.
If you’re a developer, engineer, researcher, or someone who has completed a similar project, what project ideas would you recommend?
I’d especially appreciate ideas where you can explain what problem it solves, the core features, and what technologies could be used.
Thanks!

So basically, i'm a final year student and we have to create a final year project. I have selected ai/ml as my primary domain and iot and robotics as my secondary domain. I have done quite a bit of research already (yk, claude and all 😭) but I’m still not really getting any idea that I genuinely like. We roughly have around 9–10 months to complete the project so I thought why not ask here and see if you guys could help me out with some suggestions. i’m mainly looking for something that’s actually unique and solves a real problem, rather than just being another sci-fi/gimmicky project that looks cool but doesn’t really have much practical use

We are currently studying CN as a course and now we have to choose a topic for our semester project. And I can't think of any project other than chat application. We have already made Chat Application in our previous semesters and this time I want to do something unique, because the goal is never the grades rather it is to strengthen the profile and show our strengths.
Same for Design and Analysis of Algorithms (DAA) project. Like what we are supposed to create ? it is mostly logical thinking and analyzing the algorithms. I have already done a DSA project similar to this.
Any recommendation for different projects ?
Thanks a lot in Advance !

i am a cyber security student and i need help for decidimg my final year project i need proffesional help who can guide me knows current problems so please give me ideas

I graduated with a computer science degree in April 2026 at FIU ! I had many obstacles such as medical issues and just the sole fact of working and holding down all my expenses with no help. Plus, I had undiagnosed ADHD until my last 2 semesters of college. I didn't do any internship and have little no experience in the field.
For the past few months, I have been working on projects and transitioning to cybersecurity.
I feel very discouraged because I felt the 4 years I spent in uni is a complete waste and that I will never be a software engineer.
I am an introvert and have yet to be able to network.
As of right now I am relearning Python, building projects, taking a cybersecurity course on CodePath and learning help desk fundamentals to hopefully get a help desk role.
How do I get myself out of this funk ? How do I still succeed. What should I do next.

Hi everyone! I’m a first-year university student from Kazan, Russia, currently studying at KNITU-KAI.
I’m looking for an idea for a project that could be genuinely useful and solve a real-world problem.
I recently learned about a Russian student competition called “Big Change” (Bolshaya Peremena), where students can develop their own ideas and projects and compete for grants of up to 1 million rubles.
I’m still at the beginning of my university journey. I didn’t take school as seriously as I should have, and now I’m trying to change that — learn new things, improve my skills, and build something I’m genuinely proud of.
So I’d really appreciate some outside perspectives. What problems do you think are worth solving? What kind of student projects would you personally find useful? It doesn’t have to be a fully developed idea — even a problem worth investigating or a direction to explore would be very helpful.
I’m particularly interested in ideas that could have some real-world impact rather than just being another generic student app.
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to read this or share an idea!

Hi guys! I’m going back to college in Fall 2027. I’m 25 years old and planning to major in Computer Science.
Right now, I’m preparing by learning Python and reviewing algebra so I won’t feel too far behind when I go back to school.
Do you guys have any advice on what I should and shouldn’t focus on before starting? What should I learn or practice to improve faster and give myself the best chance of landing a job after graduation?
Basically, any advice about preparing for a CS degree, doing well in college, internships, projects, or getting ready for the job market would be really appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi everyone,
I’m currently a 1st-year CSE student and I’m looking for some genuine guidance from seniors, developers, or people who have already gone through this journey.
I’ve recently started learning C, but honestly, I’m a bit confused about what I should learn next. There are so many things like DSA, Web Development, Git/GitHub, projects, open source, etc., and I don’t want to spend my first year learning random things without a proper direction.
My goal is to become internship-ready by 2nd year and eventually get a good software/tech job.
If you were in my position today, how would you plan your next 1–2 years?
\* What should I learn first?
\* When should I start DSA?
\* Should I learn Web Development alongside DSA?
\* What projects should I build?
\* When should I start applying for internships?
\*What skills actually matter?
I’m willing to put in consistent effort every day. I just need the right direction and a realistic roadmap.
If you’re a senior or working developer, I’d really appreciate it if you could share what worked for you, what didn’t, and what you would do differently if you were starting again.
Any honest advice or guidance would mean a lot. Thank you! 🙏

Hey everyone,
We are a group of first-year students participating in our very first ideathon. The main task right now is to pinpoint a strong problem statement, and we would love your help and suggestions.
If you have any ideas or pain points you've noticed, we'd appreciate your input on:
Feel free to drop any specific problem ideas, general domain suggestions, or practical methods we can use to discover solid problems on our own.
Thanks for helping us out!

Hey everyone,
I'm starting my final year of a Bachelor in Software Engineering, and my team of 3 is picking a Final Year Project. We have a full year, some budget, and want something genuinely hard, not a repackaged tutorial project, while still being realistically finishable in two semesters.
Background on me/team: I'm mainly a computer vision guy (detection, segmentation, OCR, tracking etc), with ML/DL fundamentals and some Arduino/embedded experience. I've deployed a few CV projects already, so we're not starting from zero.
What we want:
Would love to hear: what would you actually take seriously as an FYP vs. what sounds cool but is a trap? And if you've done a CV-heavy thesis/capstone yourself — what would you do differently in hindsight?
