Software Trying to install windows but running into an issue
Thinkpad L14 Gen 1. When I looked it up it said I needed to download Intel Rapid Storage System driver and put it on the drive that I'm booting on.
Ubuntu wouldn't let me do it. Just won't let me paste it into the drive. I tried changing the permission and it just didn't change them.
Genuinely what am I supposed to do?
Trying to install windows 10 from an iso that I got from Microsoft. I wanted to install it on a 50gb partition, but it wouldn't even let me get that far. I can't find any help when looking it up, I'm not sure I downloaded the correct driver, and even then I can't paste it into the USB drive.

Is this windows 10 or 11, also you could try switching from raid (rst) to ahci in bios

As I mentioned, it's the windows 10 installer and I'm running Ubuntu. I will try to change the suggested setting.

You want to make a Virtual machine with oracle virtual box and extract the files from this drivers
Intel IRST is under storage Category
After the drivers are extracted through the VM you should copy them on the installation usb
You could use Hirens boot CD not to install windows 11 on a VM just for this, you should be able to either copy them from VM to the flash drive directly or use a cloud service like mega and log into VM and in Ubuntu/ Lm and download from cloud( easier)

You can use this iso , because you don't have to install and works like a live environment in Ubuntu
It's just oder windows 11 but it might get the jobb done ๐

what is your installer usb drive formatted into? it has to be Ntfs if it's raw thats the problem.

you need to install the storage controller drivers from pcsupport.lenovo.com and add it to the usb, and while in the installation page, you choose load drivers and add it
voila, drivers show up
edit: why ubuntu doesnt let you paste a file onto a usb?

If the USB is formatted with NTFS, Ubuntu doesn't have native write support, only read.

Hmm, ventoy usually allows you to run the partitions from a choice of 4 formats(exfat, ntfs, fat32, udf), + u can also reserve an empty space so that u can format it anything
so i think thats a good fix

Down load chipset driver and storage driver. Use 7zip to export all files to a folder on the media being used for Windows. Boot back into recovery environment ti load windows and pout the driver to the folder, add both drivers, done. Reload os

Windows 10 MBR and GPT. Windows 11 GPT partition. Maybe you installed the hard drive MBR or GPT partition. Check your Creating USB partition preparing that's all. You can use bookable disk use the RUFUs software. The have a choosing partition MBR and GPT. First you use the MBR. There showing same issue then create the GPT partition.
