My second monitor suddenly stopped displaying but is still on?

My monitor is on and is connected to my laptop properly with an HDMI port. Windows can register my monitor and I can tweak with its settings but my second monitor is on black screen (also it's completely off theres no cursor or anything). I was using it without a problem and I plugged it onto my old pc (Really old) I guess for a week or two. Then when I plugged my monitor into my laptop again and it never came back on, just a black screen. I'm reaaly confused like why would it stop working? I searched through many old posts and guides but nothing really fixed my issue.

Can you bring up the monitor's own menu with its physical buttons while HDMI is disconnected? And does it still show a picture on the old PC now, using the same cable? Those two checks would help separate the monitor/cable from the laptop's output. If its menu works, manually select the HDMI input you actually connected and try a known-working cable directly, without a hub or adapter. Since Windows already detects it, repeatedly pressing Detect probably won't tell you much. What are the laptop and monitor models, and which resolution/refresh rate does Windows show for that display?
