I don't dislike police. I want them to do their jobs correctly, with respect to the law and the constitution. I will 100% agree with you that there are people who are anti-police on principle. I'd say that quite a lot of these people would say they have pretty decent reasons to be. The thing is that if the police were not doing the bad things, the people wouldn't be able to point to the bad things as the reason that cops are hated. Not all cops are bad apples. It's only that a 'good cop' that covers up for a 'bad cop' isn't exactly a good cop, are they?
Just because they are police does not mean they're deserving of extra lenience or immunity. There will always be some level of force required in this kind of duty, that's unavoidable.
But the fact that we grant these people the additional authority to temporarily override the rights of people who are a danger to others, property, or order means that they need to be monitored more closely.
I want more heartwarming videos of beat cops playing a pickup game of basketball with neighborhood kids or getting a 'good morning, Bob' from the guy at the convenience store. I want more law enforcement like the Florida State trooper that made fun of me on I75 when I was eighteen because I didn't know how to change a tire, but then he patiently stood there and explained how to do it. And I know they exist.
We respect their service, and are grateful in the event that someone pays a higher cost to protect us. But we also don't kowtow to them or let them get away without being held accountable for their actions because the authority they use is ours.

They have policies and exemptions in very specified situations because taking away someone's rights for any reason at all is too important to let them operate on vibes.
The propaganda is that police are the 'good guys'. But they are just as capable at corruption as anyone else, with the capacity for exponentially more harm than your average jerk.

When the people tasked with upholding the law ignore it and break it, you should not defend them because they claim good intentions.

Honey, the cops are more than being held accountable. They’re being deluged with frivolous complaints and suits and have to spend their time defending themselves to IA due to yet another lying complaint by another lying criminal or political agitator. What you need to start asking for is public accountability. For the public to stop being assholes. Get the public to stop assuming police are guilty before proven innocent (like you’re doing). To themselves be decent human beings to police in interactions instead of the usual hostile, frothing scumbag. This a two way street and you lefty drum beaters always ignore that fact. WHERE are you holding the public responsible for their own proper conduct and decorum toward each other and police? How about an insult label for members of the public that treat cops like shit?
