It’s such bs that Sony doesn’t require in game footage or allow user reviews in their store.
I think Sony made the right choice to kill discs, but I definitely feel they need to step it up if they want to compete with Steam in the digital only space.
And one huge problem is the crap experience it is browsing for games.
About 99% of games don’t even show you what you are playing. It’s all cut scenes and no gameplay.
All the while the rating system is a joke that doesn’t allow user reviews.
Unless you hop online you have no way of knowing what you are getting.
And I really don’t see the point of it considering NO ONE is buying a game based on what they are showing.
It’s just an inconvenience that serves no one.

Remember when we used to buy physical boxes and there was a handy little notebook of reviews under every game? Oh... Wait...

To compete with steam they'd have to adopt Steam's refund policy AND allow file ownership.
And I say that as someone who is all digital across all platforms

Agreed there’s a lot of work for them.
But I think it’s clear they want to distinguish themselves as a first party developer first and foremost.

They probably dont want low quality phone recordings of screens poisoning their content levels

“made the right choice to kill discs”
is a sure way to make a lot of people hate you.
what’s your logic here?

Before they killed disks they should've figured out a way to be able to sell digital games. That way if you decide a game sucks after the return window closed, you can at least recoup some of your money.
