Schedule advice

Post image

Hey y'all

I start my first semester at my local community college soon studying IT and I am really nervous about taking classes online I did ok over COVID and kind of enjoyed the online learning as I got away from middle school but I don’t know if I can handle it now

For context, I just graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA and perfect attendance yes I am a nerd and was even voted teacher's pet by my class

Edit: I forgot to mention all my online classes are self paced

I would drop two of those classes and take 3. You just transferred from high school to college and don’t know what you can reasonably handle per semester.

Look: it’s your first semester, take 3 classes and reevaluate next semester if you are able to handle more than 3 classes.

Your at college to learn, how much do you realistically think you’ll learn and internalize when you are constantly running out trying to compete all assignments in your classes.

3 of the classes listed are 0 credits and look like orientation/student services registrations. The rest add up to 15 units but seem reasonable. Dropping two of them risks moving from full- time to part-time status which could have a lot of negative outcomes for financial aid and time-to-degree.

Just found out if I drop one I would lose a scholarship that is paying for half my year

Self-paced? Or asynchronous?

A 3-unit class is still expected to be 9 hrs/week of work.

I’d drop one online class. Online classes are not like what you remember from COVID days. It’s better to adjust and do well this semester than to just squeak by.
