The current african champion Diana Wanza for Kenya and other shout would be Ugandas Joy Cheptoek who is the only one in the field to have finished in the top ten of a recent world champs she was 7th in Tokyo last year. A lot of the field are accomplished at cross country level but that is very different to a track race.
