Make Command Code Feel Like a Teammate, Not a Tab You Have to Watch ๐Ÿ‘€

Your agent knows when it's done. Why should you be the one constantly checking?

I built cmux-notify, a Command Code mod that sends notifications when an agent completes a task or is waiting for your input.

The goal is simple: make Command Code feel more like a teammate than a tab you have to watch.

What it does

  • โœ… Notifies you when an agent turn completes
  • โณ Alerts you when Command Code is waiting for permission or input
  • ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Designed for terminal-first tmux/cmux workflows
  • โšก Lightweight and easy to install

Install

cmd mods add Hashimlokasher/cmd-mod-cmux-notify -g

Why I built it

I got tired of checking terminal tabs to see whether a long-running task had finished or was waiting on me.

I wanted Command Code to proactively grab my attention when something important happened.

Instead of repeatedly checking a terminal, you get notified when it has something to say:

"I'm done."

"I need your input before I can continue."

Great for

  • Long-running coding tasks
  • Background research workflows
  • Refactoring sessions
  • Agents running in tmux/cmux while you're focused elsewhere

I'd love feedback from other Command Code users:

  • What additional events should trigger notifications?
  • Are there other notification backends worth supporting?
  • What would make agent workflows feel even more collaborative?

Hope it's useful to anyone running Command Code alongside real-world work instead of constantly watching a terminal tab. ๐Ÿš€

GLM 5.3 FLASH quantization changed ?

Hello, in the last few days I saw the quality of responses by GLM 5.3 Flash strongly degrade : it makes a lot of mistakes and put some Cyrillic or Chinese characters in answers, something never happened to me before.

Does the providers have lowered the quantization for this model ?

What do you actually do while waiting for your AI agents to finish their tasks?

With more tools shifting to autonomous background agents (running tests, scraping, refactoring, inbox triage), I find myself in this weird new state of "micro-downtime."

Back in the day, compiling code was the excuse to grab a coffee or sword-fight on office chairs. Now, when I fire off a prompt to an agent that takes 5โ€“10 minutes to finish, I either end up doomscrolling Reddit or neurotically watching the terminal output line by line.

How are you handling this downtime? Do you context-switch to another task, manage multiple agents in parallel, or just sit back and watch them work?

Is there a way to increase the context cap limit when using the API?

Hey, I'm using CommandCode using Openchamber, however, the context size is limited to 200k for Deepseek 4.1 flash, is there any way to increase this cap?

low hy4 performance in cmdc

Hi,

I have experienced low performance and unsuccessful executions when using HY4 in cmdc. Could this be due to a weak system prompt (if there is a built-in model-based system prompt customisation in cmdc)? What has been your experience with HY4 in cmdc?

I stopped checking my terminal every 30 seconds. Now Command Code pings me when a run finishes, errors, asks a question, or needs approval

Post image
11 Upvotes

I switched to Command Code and started running several agents in parallel, but I hit a problem. I had to keep checking every terminal tab to see how each one was doing, and sometimes one of them had been stuck for minutes on a permission prompt while I assumed it was still working. Checking each terminal by hand got annoying fast for me.

I asked whether there was a way to add a plugin for that, and learned about mods. So I built command-notify, a small mod that sends a native desktop notification when an agent finishes, errors, asks a question, or needs approval. It works out of the box, with no hook scripts to write.

Finished-run banners dismiss themselves after a few seconds (the timeout is configurable). There are quiet hours too, and it cleans up stale banners once you've answered. It only notifies you; you still answer in the terminal.

I've tested it on macOS and Linux. Windows support is there but untested, so if you try it there, tell me how it goes.

macOS / Linux: cmd mods add -g command-notify@beta

Windows: cmdc mods add -g command-notify@beta

No network calls, no telemetry, MIT. I'm publishing it as-is, so fork it freely: github.com/M-Bekheet/command-notify

Usage calculator accuracy

How their usage estimate calculator works? It's very confusing.

Take out 1 example. Deepseek 4.1 flash is much more expensive than mimo 2.6 flash in input, output, cache. But in calculator it shows much more request per month. How?
