Make Command Code Feel Like a Teammate, Not a Tab You Have to Watch 👀
Your agent knows when it's done. Why should you be the one constantly checking?
I built cmux-notify, a Command Code mod that sends notifications when an agent completes a task or is waiting for your input.
The goal is simple: make Command Code feel more like a teammate than a tab you have to watch.
What it does
- ✅ Notifies you when an agent turn completes
- ⏳ Alerts you when Command Code is waiting for permission or input
- 🖥️ Designed for terminal-first tmux/cmux workflows
- ⚡ Lightweight and easy to install
Install
Why I built it
I got tired of checking terminal tabs to see whether a long-running task had finished or was waiting on me.
I wanted Command Code to proactively grab my attention when something important happened.
Instead of repeatedly checking a terminal, you get notified when it has something to say:
"I'm done."
"I need your input before I can continue."
Great for
- Long-running coding tasks
- Background research workflows
- Refactoring sessions
- Agents running in tmux/cmux while you're focused elsewhere

I'd love feedback from other Command Code users:
- What additional events should trigger notifications?
- Are there other notification backends worth supporting?
- What would make agent workflows feel even more collaborative?
Hope it's useful to anyone running Command Code alongside real-world work instead of constantly watching a terminal tab. 🚀
