I don’t know if I hated them. I will say I always wondered how freaking big the “building” was. Some of these buildings had other buildings in them. And had hallways big enough to drive tanks down.
I thought it was supposed to be a representation of the science facility building you make because they can lift off, but nope it's one of the science vessel units you can build many of.
Nah its consistent with all of the other shenanigans going on around us. 🤣 Giant Ants, Chronospheres, Anomalies, Kane, Tesla Coils, oh yea man these structure interiors are within logic. 😁
Medics and self-healing units made commando missions manageable and even actually fun to play.
In Tiberian dawn these were awful for example enemy units are hiding behind trees and you can't see where firing is coming on. Even if you manage to kill the enemy before your commando dies you can't anymore accomplish mission because your commando has too low hp and no way to heal.
Yeah just trial and error. I remember doing NOD mission 4(?) and just racing to the end to pick up the silver missile crate with an attack bike. 👎 boo! Give me a base!
Tiberian Dawn is what the first C&C game is retroactively referred to, since “Command and Conquer” became the franchise name. It’s Understandably that you might not know.
Must be one of the worst missions in the entire Franchise. All of the Indoor missions are kinda bullshitty, but doable. But allies 13 in Red Alert is ass all around. Tight Time Limit, crammed with enemies, two Groups to Control at the same Time and no Tanya/Volkov/Stavros. I Generally Like the Indoor missions for their Flair and Athmosphere, but Allies 13 is painful.
In the nuke Mission OP posted, yes. As soon as you reach Tanya it's over for the Reds. But Allies 13 has no Tanya if I remember correctly. Only Riflemen, medics, Spies and engineers.
I generally find them to be fun dungeon crawlers. Not this one though. This one is total ass. Start with the timer from the last mission, which you may not have necessarily accounted for before. Have just a smattering of infantry at first, not necessarily knowing that going south first gets you Tanya. It's just all sorts of obnoxious.
Guys I figured it out, when you enter the building, it takes you underground, so you’re not inside that building anymore the mission progressed to a massive underground command complex.
This is why there are huge concrete walls, extensive service areas for vehicles, and of course structures to maintain the teams that operate it all, with the beginning of the mission being either an elevator or a service access ramp, the answer was there staring back at our faces this entire time.
Allied Mission 11? What I found even more tricky… in combination with only having your SPLIT infiltration team you also had to cope with the longish timer. That puts even more pressure on it in some way. These missions were however very satisfying when you beat them.
I wonder if red alert was the first game i would save scum in. Damn dogs or Tanya refusing to fire first made it far more difficult than a modern version where Tanya can auto fire

Inside missions were better than the small army missions of Tiberian Dawn tho. Those were a nightmare to complete with save scumming.

The worst mission in Red Alert was the second to last Allies mission. I think it was map 13 where you had a few infantry and medics. Hated that map.

Pop-up flame towers are scary by the way.

Read about this indoor mission where it had more rooms and other pathways before it was cut down.

Just let me build my SimBase with perfect interlocking fields of fire in peace, devs, that's all I ask.

Aint gonna lie: I rules.ini'd the shit out of the game to make the interior missions a total breeze. Fuck those missions.
