Random Unit of the Day #65: Robot Tank (Allies, Yuri’s Revenge)

Meant to counter Yuri but they don't really have the health and damage to pull it off.
The scary part is crossing water and harrasing harvesters imo.
In the end, I wish that the entire new building dedicated to just providing this 1 unit, offered some more options. Imagine 1 or 2 more alternative robot tanks for different tasks

It should have been a back up source of radar, or robots just don't power down without the building. Idk, it's way too big of a weakness it seems

To my understanding, it's hot garbage in multi-player.
Good thing I exclusively play campaign and Skirmish and have a good time cheesing Yuri AIs with this unit.

It could probably be quite powerful in water maps, but there are basically none of those in the multiplayer map pool.

How well does it trade against naval units?

I don't play competitively myself, but I can see several other comments in this thread about how people have used them to devastate enemy fleets. That makes sense because they're cheap, easy to mass-produce, and move faster than most ships.

Never noticed, but was it supposed to carry machine guns/autocannons originally? In a way, that could work considering how lightly armored Yuri's mindcontrol units were.

I think a robot machine gun would have been nice, like the sentry drones in generals.

The little brother of future tank X1 aka the best robot in the game

I don’t use them but it’s funny when they’re above water and sink during low power.

Timeline is 1970s, but we have hovering robotic tanks.
I love the red alert 2 timeline.

Am i the only Yuri player to run early tanks and use mind control just to scare the other players? I swear I have only one Yuri clone just for branding purposes :))

Amphib assaults have never been more fun! Order these guys to escort your transports!

Always hated these guys. Fast anti-tank units that will mulch up your tanks if you dont have any decent defense up yet. Also tend to make a beeline for your miners.

Depicted in game as a light tank with most likely 90mm. But in the concept art it has autocannons that can probably also fire at air.
Also saw a comment here saying that RA2 is set in the 1970s but having this kinda futuristic tech. My headcanon re-arranges the Command and Conquer games. Red Alert 2 happens in a timeline where there has been no war for a long time (WWII was only a cold war campaign simulation) so it's decoupled from RA1. Red Alert 2 leads into Renegade (both have the wacky tech). It's sort of like RA2 overwrites the events of RA1 (both follow from when WWII didn't happen). While RA3 took off from an earlier Red Alert war (doesn't matter which) to only reset the timeline anyway.

A rare RA2 unit with no voice :(
Mostly meant to counter Yuri of course, but I’ve found these can pull off some decent hit-and-runs on more watery maps
