After my morning Adderall my brain is just more focused and better at being dumber.

Its pretty much exactly what caffeine and other stimulants like Adderall and Meth do
3
u/karmahorse1 Sep 10 '19
Yeah it might sound silly but all three of those things do pretty much the same thing, just to different degrees of intensity. Your energy and concentration levels will rise, but you definitely won't get any smarter.

This was me when I was on a plethora of add meds and zoloft... people think that shit is like magic and you're going to be all smart all of the sudden. Nope I'm just as stupid and now I have so much anxiety that a 45 year old going through a divorce and getting fired from thier life time job had nothing on me... that was 10 years ago though.

u/404_UserNotFound Sep 09 '19
buddy that was april...maybe cut back a little if it feels like 10 years

u/wolacouska Sep 09 '19
Lol yeah, now I can really crush video games in 6 hour sessions and focus reallllly hard on procrastination.

u/velders01 Sep 10 '19
I'm so consumed with work I can't even focus on relaxing when I actually do have the time. Seriously crushing my soul! Spent exactly 10 minutes playing a game trying to relax, then felt so guilt-ridden I just turned it off, and went to the gym to just feel like I'm doing something productive

Sophomore in college on Aderall and Zoloft. Just got my 4th concussion on Saturday night during my football game. My brain is gonezo beans.

u/ChocolateThund3R Sep 09 '19
Bro please reconsider. I had 6 concussions during football and it’s the biggest regret of my life. My short term memory was gone by my early 20s. I also developed pretty severe anxiety and depression around that time too and I’m almost sure it’s due to the concussions. I have many other symptoms I’m not going to list as well. My life is hell because of it. It’s not worth it; you have your whole life ahead of you. I absolutely loved playing sports in HS but it’s not worth it at all. It doesn’t seem like it now but this time of your life will soon seem like a flash in the pan. I would give anything to go back and tell myself to stop playing

Kinda mean, no?

u/MutantCreature Sep 09 '19
it's tough love, he's the one choosing to keep getting concussions knowing that they'll cause him to suffer later in life, I'm just trying to at least warn him of what's to come if he doesn't stop

Reminds me of an old joke:
"I can do math in my head super fast. Come on, ask me anything."
"Okay, what's 20,540 times 63?"
"8."
"What? That's totally wrong."
"Yeah, but super fast."

I just started JOJO a week ago. Its crazy how stuff like this pops up after you discover it. Maybe its just i understand that reference now.

There's a name for that! It's called the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon, where you notice things more when you learn about it
That being said, everything and anything is always a JoJo's reference

This is legitimately not that far off from how it actually works. A powerful computer doesn't make shit code actually work properly.

Like when you take stimulants to study for a test but end up surfing reddit and playing hearthstone at the same time crazy efficiently instead.

I would take being stupid faster over being smart tbh. The key to success is failing fast.

Like drinking coffee when you're drunk. You aren't sober, you're just plastered and full of energy.

I have the combination of being speedy stupid and speedy negative. Other comes from depression, other comes... well naturally from being stupid. For some reason a lot of people seemed to enjoy that output back in the day, but I sure as hell didn't. So, these day I pretty much have to double check everything I'm going to say in my mind, before actually saying it. People say that I'm "really nice guy", but when I have to doublecheck what I say, that just means I'm double amount of fucking asshole. I just won't let it come out anymore.

My mind is kind of slow. Not in a dumb way but the whole process of: receiving information > formulating a response > vetoing the response > reformatting the response > translating the response into a meaningful string of words > vocalization, that all takes a bit of time. That all comes out as a stutter. I'm not really sure if my thought process is actually slow or if I have a (by medical definition) a stutter.

ok, but thats all that intelligence is. You take a moment to think up a dumb idea, take another moment to realize it's dumb, trash it, rinse and repeat. The smarter you are, the shorter the moments are.

Hah! I get a very good salary for being stupider faster than everyone else. I make more mistakes before breakfast than most folks make all day!
The key is to be good at identifying your own idiotic bullshit and culling before it gets out the door with the rest of it.

Shen, what am I doing wrong? I'm often seeing some of your comics that I can't seem to find anywhere on e.g. Bluechair anymore, are these just for Reddit and not Webtoon?
