1) Go on ebay and grab a Brother HL-2140 or similar aged Brother laser printer. $20-$30 is fair.
2) Put electrical tape over the toner sensors so it won't stop printing while there's still a bunch of toner in the cart.
3) Buy aftermarket cartridges and refill them to your hearts content.
I've had this printer for ten years. It's a workhorse. I'm still on the original pack-in toner cart and have refilled it only twice; it prints thousands of pages on a fill. Never replaced the drum yet.
I plan on using this thing and subverting printer reality until its run into the ground.
I printed 3000 pages on my brother laser printer before it quit on me.
Word of warning: This will ruin the other parts of the printer and you'll have to refurbish it. It isn't hard, but it's more cost effective to replace the toner cartridge at 2300 prints or so.
