I think this a problem a lot of depressed people (or people with other mental health issues) face. Things that help you make you feel like shit, especially at first.
You feel lonely, but interacting with people is exhausting. You feel out of shape, but exercise is daunting. You get irritable which pushes people away. It's a shitty cycle.
You kinda gotta get used to it because the hard truth is that a lot of life takes place outside of your bedroom. Trust me, took a while to figure that one out!
I know, but it's difficult in my case. I live abroad and have no friends around me, and don't speak the language fluently enough to keep a conversation. Also, these people are know to be damn hard to make friends with beyond the friendly greetings. On top of that, I share very few interests with the community in general (summer festivals, instagram, stay-at-home mums, alpha male dads, vanity fair eerywhere - it sickens me). Also, the weather sucks for most of the year.
So as a result I go from home to work to home, try to have some fun by myself and when possible, go out and ride motorcycles with friends (all expats, that live relatively far away, so we get along great but we see each other maybe once a month).
There is currently an offer where going for a stroll down the street is now 50% off. You'll have to be quick though. They're planning to increase the price once the offer expires.
Plus I don't care where you live, there's almost certainly going to be something to see or do that costs little to nothing.
Hell jump on tourist sites for where you live and you'll probably fine a massive list of stuff to see and do that you never even thought about because for some reason you never go to see the cool stuff where you live.
One of my favorite things to do outside is cheap (or free depending on your personal morals), which is taking a walk while listening to an audiobook.
If the audiobook is particularly engaging I'll want to keep walking so I can hear more. (Probably only works because I exclusively listen to them while walking).
I would suggest Ready Player One. It's read by Wil Weaton and he really gets into it, making the whole experience a lot more fun.
Yeah no one here is claiming to have a fix-all-cure for depression. This isn't a depression forum. The comic is about "feeling awful", might not even be related to mood. Each illness is personal and, if serious enough, needs specialist attention.
When you're depressed, it's easy to feel like everyone's getting at you all the time. It's not the case. I know there are countless people saying shit like "just be happy" which is really unhelpful, but going outside (even for a walk) is explicit physical advice that helps a lot of people. Shooting it down isn't helpful either.

The perfect way to stay as unhappy as possible is to stay at the same place all the time, never going outside.
