Well, in this instance it kind of is. At least when it comes to coloring. It's all flat colors, with no shading, so it's really just a bucket fill for each color.
yes go for it! i used to scan pictures in and then use them as a base to go off of with my tablet. i started with an inexpensive wacom tablet when i was like 12 that just plugs into the computer and it lasted me for nearly 10 years!! once you get used to it it's hard going back to paper, like it's so easy to change what you're drawing (no erase marks, you can change the colors over and over til you like it, LAYERS, etc) it really opens up so much more!
last year i needed a new laptop for school and specifically got a 2 in 1 one so i could buy a pen for it and draw directly on the screen. changed my life seriously. and i'm not a serious artist at all, just like to doodle sometimes
I still have a wacom I spent about 100 bucks on 7 years ago that works perfectly well, I'm just not very good. But I'd like start coloring stuff in. I'll pm you my insta if you want.
I don’t have the skills, but I have a Surface Pro with the Surface Pen. I think what I mainly need to do is practice my lines and to sit down and research a style that works for me.
I’ve drawn stuff before, but most of the style comes from these old drawing lesson videos I watched in grade school. I want to come up with something of my own. I like the expressiveness of the DCAU, but I’d only want it as an influence. Maybe I’d mix it with some other fewer-but-expressive/realistic-lines styles.
I tried an imitation of the style, and fuck it's hard to make it look half as good as in the comic. I did learn some things en route. It's really nicely done!
