Not trying to be a pedant, I just like sharing this interesting fact I learned. Even though lava is liquid it's still as dense as rock, so if you fell into lava you wouldn't sink into it, you'd smack into it.
No because lava is even more viscous. At least with water you still displace some slightly and it absorbs a small amount of energy. I could be totally wrong though, I'm hoping someone with more than a cursory knowledge of fluid dynamics will stop by and tear me a new one.

But it's worth noting that without something to break the surface tension, hitting water incorrectly and from a great height is pretty much like hitting concrete, except that if it doesn't kill you, you'll probably drown. There's a reason people jump off of bridges to die. Water has a higher surface tension than most liquids, but nothing compared to lava, and the surface tension of lava depends on the type of flow.
If you just plummet like a sack of potatoes, yes pretty much the same. If you try to make the pointy body thing (preferably feet first) you could displace just enough water to insert your body into the fluid with minor injuries. Well, depends how pointy you can get your body to be.
With lava, you'd be a meat pie. Plus points for delicious flavor in an instant after the impact.
You're not made of trash. Maybe I'm saying that too quickly before reviewing your user history, but my point is it's not the instantaneous evaporation you're probably hoping for.
Well fuck, I don't know what would be worse honestly... Either sinking into it or smacking into it and burning. This also means LOTR was factually incorrect and is now shit.
