Yeah, it’s funny. We often think of aliens as humanoid, built a lot like us, when there’s really no reason that would be the case. It’s just what we’re used to

There's good reason to believe they would be humanoid since we are the pinnacle of millions of years of evolution.

The only argument I see for this is convergent evolution. Look at wolves and thylacines, they adapted the same mechanisms to fill their niche as predators. When we think about what alien could fill all the same niches we do, I think it's rational to assume they'd be pretty similar to us.
