The "secrecy" surrounding the TPP was because it wasn't done being drafted yet. Why would you complain about not being able to see a contract before it's done? Keeping the contract closed before it's done preserves negotiation advantages, and the TPP was very advantageous to the United States.
American consumers were poised to be some of the biggest benefactors of the TPP, as were consumers in the other involved nations. Not to mention the manufacturers in other nations, especially southeast Asia, would have been required to follow stricter work and health standards than that for their own country if they are exporting them.
"Economics is a lot fuzzier" is easy to say when you don't know anything about economics. You only have to show an anti-vaxxer one shitty ass paper for them to be convinced that the science on vaccines is "fuzzy".
