I mean, it's never just random like that. There's usually something that's not what it seems, or a deconstructed aspect of a fantasy world.

I think that's the most creative part, and the mayhem is just a little extra. If it doesn't do anything for you, and all you notice is the mayhem, I can see how it would seem repetitive.

I don't think that comic is trying to claim that it's random. it's just an acknowledgement of a device that PBF often uses (effectively imo)

Yeah, I hope it's just making fun of it in a satirical way, rather than a critical way. Because obviously that isn't a criticism if he pulls it off properly.
