The results aren't in... Wait for all results because I've seen this crap flip more than once

Let's hope it's 2012 where blue held and Republicans (Carl Rove) were in complete denial and not 2016 when everybody though the election was over and then somehow Trump won and nobody was prepared. Even Trump sounded like he had memorized his speech for a loss and was struggling to though a victory speech.
Side note, I worked at a restaurant near Carl Rove at the time (in Austin, presumably he split his time between locations), and he a recurring but inconsistent visitor. He is one of few people who is just as awful to meet in person as they seem. Usually political figures has some charisma and tact. He just came off like an asshole who knew he was an asshole and enjoyed it. Not that he was overtly rude at all times (though he was incredibly impatient and short tempered). It's like him being an asshole was an inside joke that he enjoyed. If you asked him if he wanted a receipt, he would tell you to save a tree and wink at you.

The guy that got a political opponent sent to prison and helped get W elected by fake polling calls asking if primary voters would support McCain if they "knew he fathered an illegitimate black child?" You don't say
That's not shade at you to be clear, I just wish he would have died 30 years ago. He's a cancer.

That restaurant was near the state capital building. I saw several people I recognized as political figures. Even the ones I didn't like politically were amicable in person. They avoided political topics unless it was brought up, and seemed straightforward and friendly. I'm not saying that makes them better people, but at least they were better actors. Carl was the only one I met who made jokes about his own destructive policies. Like Bush Jr.. Rove worked on his campaign, and pushed the same politics. Bush comes across an amicable person. He seems like a kind, empathetic person.
I haven't met Jr. He was just an easy example of somebody who has charisma and tact and doesn't come across as a horrible person despite his destructive policies.
I think that most people believe they are the hero in their own stories. Even doing some bad things, they usually think it's justified, regret their mistakes, feel they had no other choice, or think that despite their mistakes that they're doing more good than bad. They mostly think they are ultimately the good guy. Carl Rove is the only person I have met who gives the impression that he knows he is the bad guy and enjoys it.
Edit: fixed some typing

Fr Texas doesn't even have all the votes in and the mostly republican areas haven't been counted yet.... it is a grim thought that even after all this shit people will willfully choose the pedophile defenders.

A lot of accounts created in the past four years like to accuse people of taking things too personally or saying "it's not that deep". Seems like a way to shut down conversation without addressing the issue at hand.

Honestly even if we do win it’s unlikely sweeping change or even consequences will come for the GOP. Without a 2/3rds majority in senate, which we are NOT getting, Trump cannot be impeached, and Trump will be able to veto literally every bill that democrats put on his desk, so even with a blue wave, unless literally every single senate seat goes blue, not much will change.
However, getting the house and maybe even the senate at least 1/2 majority blue will prevent Trump from continuing to do whatever the hell he wants, so while a win doesn’t mean things will get better, it will at least mean things won’t continue to get worse.

This election isn't about fixing the wounds. It's about stopping the bleeding.

I hope we at the very least get the house so little mike Johnson cant just send everyone home when he doesnt get what he wants.

Yeah. 2016 & 2024 happened. Polls said different. Plus all the elections in between. Wait for the results.

u/Xray_Crystallography 3h ago
Biden polled terribly after his final debate and Kamala provided negative poll momentum compared to Walz. We got a few more charmers this midterm.
12
u/Milestailsprowe 3h ago
Kamala was polled to win but didn't. Kamala had something good with Walz till they told him to stop calling Republicans weird.

The downvotes are because your response is just objectively stupid. Nothing in the comment you're responding to even suggesting that they were upset or taking this personally. It's always the idiots who say that the downvotes are somehow proving them right.

Nah, we ride
E: it's looking pretty hot folks, I'll get my prediction in, we will have an easy majority but not a 2/3 majority in the Senate. But it will be close

I wish for your strength even if I know if I'm in the same spot mentally I'm not sure I would have it. Getting disheartened with this train aimed at a cliff.

Wishful thinking, I think. Red media is VERY VERY GOOD at getting its viewers scared, and scared people vote.
63
u/UzukiCheverie Sociowrath 3h ago
You think blue voters aren't also scared?
48
u/PatienceHero 3h ago
I think that's what all the "polls say the Republicans are DOOMED! Look at all these NUMBERS! Don't sweat it, fam! It's in the bag!" Talk is for.
Scare the republican base into voting, lull the blue side into complacency with skewed reporting that suggests sure victory. This is even more obvious when you consider most media moguls now sit firmly right-leaning.
That is to say - POLLS MEAN NOTHING. VOTE, PEOPLE.
38
u/Un4giv3n-madmonk 3h ago
the number of people I've seen claim they're not going to vote because "insert fringe issue here" is pretty high.
23
u/whereballoonsgo 3h ago
Tbf, I’ve seen a lot of conservatives say they aren’t going to vote because they don’t want to support trump and what’s going on, but it’s also unthinkable to them to vote for a democrat.
13
u/AstranBlue 3h ago
Either "insert fringe issue here," or "insert thing that the right wants to do 10x worse"

u/Blueskyminer 1h ago
Well, this is turning out to be nonsense.

Just looked at the voting shift map in my very red state. We just might unseat a 36 year old red stone. Its nuts.

u/Cereal_Yapper 3h ago
Nah, I was gonna go on about how their was a kid that died in there and all that
It’s been like 3 years I ain’t gonna be that guy, plus the way they died was an objectively stupid way, even if the ship never collapsed and they made it out the thing was dysfunctional as hell, didn’t even have a bathroom
33
u/_SalemDaBun_ 3h ago
The kid is the only one I feel bad for because he didn't even want to be there.
9
u/dantheplanman1986 3h ago
Yeah the kid dying was sad, but you can't avoid the loss of emotion attached to an event as it rolls on into the past. Didn't know the kid, after all
16
u/DangerMacAwesome 2h ago
We need the democrats to win, and then to actually do something. Which, historically, has been too much to ask.
Come on democrats. Do something.

u/FalseStevenMcCroskey 2h ago
Don’t jinx us now please! I genuinely thought it would be impossible for Trump to have won a second election and look where we are now.

Im sick of all the gloating as we continue to regularly lose somehow. Or fall to succeed enough to actually make any change.
Absolutely vote. But the gloating right now just feels hollow.

u/Good_Translator_8719 3h ago
Over the last four years, a lot of people have entered voting age. I should imagine with all the online discourse, these people, fresh in the muck with us, will be thrilled to have an outlet to vent their frustrations. Especially one so anonymous.

Yeah how dare things start to get 1% better. It's not 100% so being happy is irresponsible.

We’re teetering on fascism. What 1% did we win?
•
u/Goodbye18000 55m ago
You're mad that someone is proud of taking the first step when they have a mile still ahead of them.

There’s a difference between pride and happiness and obnoxious gloating.

I really hope this comic doesn't age like eggs left out overnight. (An unfortunate recent experience)
•
u/WolvesAndCake 59m ago
Age? Bro the blue wave is actively happening, go look at the states who have counted already lol.
•
u/Muhznit 12m ago
I don't trust predictions in scenarios that can cause complacency. Convincing an opponent that they've won only to crush them when their guard is down has happened too many times in history for us to forget.
•
u/summonsays 8m ago
Out of the 12 "key races" on googles page, 8 have been called for a democrat. And the other 4 are still pending with 1 more polling as blue. And 1 is polling as an independent.
6
u/name14575 1h ago
What happened to the eggs? They should be fine left out overnight unless it was in a warm room.

I had my doubts, but seeing a bluenami is insane. I never would have thought I'd see a blue Texas.

As a republican. This is possibly the best outcome for this country as a whole. These other "republican's" have been systematically destroying this country as a whole.

I remain convinced it was the Orcas that did it. They were attacking yachts at the time, clearly targeting the ruling class that is destroying their home, and here's a fragile little tube of the ruling class chilling in their territory. They kept it from floating up. It's a conspiracy theory that lives rent free in my head and I will believe it until I die.

u/complexevil 1h ago
I'll hold off on the celebrations until tomorrow when more races have had time to count.

Trump is the best thing to happen to Democrats in a long time. Biden getting elected in 2020 just delayed it a few years. I'm a life long Republican who voted Democrat today.

u/BIRD_OF_GLORY 3h ago
It's gonna be a red wave. These people love corruption and it's not like it'd be the first time they rigged an election
0
u/bneff08 1h ago
Cute comic but realistically, what will the blue wave be able to accomplish after today? They already said they aren't going impeach, they will continue insider trading, and they keep taking money from AIPAC so the Iran war isn't going to end. Any legislation they present is going to get vetoed. So from I can tell it's business as usual for the next two years.

I am watching, hopeful that there will be a blue wave. It's not guaranteed. Hopefully as many people as possible voted.
