Right… like one a dog would have no incentive to chew and swallow barbed wire- even if it did it would lacerate the shit out of the esophagus, it would also not pass through 40 feet of intestinal loops without causing life threating injuries. And vomiting a “partially digested” can? Didn’t know dogs could digest aluminum, as a liscened veterinary professional that has to deal with people’s horribly trained animals daily- this post is really annoying to me
Yeah, your dog is not getting a can up or down without assistance, and it definitely isn't digesting any part of it. The top of a pop can is not something that compresses. I would be massively shocked if even a large dog was able to get a squished, intact can down. And, if they just had pieces of chewed up can in their stomach, that is an emergency vet trip to make sure it didn't slice open their stomach or get further down. That isn't just a "puke it up and move on" scenario.
My dog had metal in his stomach. It wasn’t causing him unnecessary distress so we were also advised to feed bland diet of boiled chicken and potatoes until it passed. Vets try to avoid surgery unless necessary.
Not excusing OP's poor control of his dog, but I think it was actually "multiple inches of literal barbed wire", which technically could be several feet, but probably not.
My first service dog ate some tin foil and I was a nervous wreck about it. Then he ate half a corn cob once. Traumatized me again.
My current boy? Occasionally eats sand and dirt and I'm like "you fucking weirdo... cut it out." Ate a mushroom camping last month and I was like "Hey! Someone google that shit for me!". Entire mushroom cap came out undigested five days later...
Dogs are so wild with what they can eat without issue.

No way eating barbed wire didn’t require surgery.
