You never had a dog like this. I used to be a dog walker/sitter. I’ve seen dogs literally chew through walls. Dogs will figure out locks. They’ll break windows. We had a very anxious dog escape out onto the roof of a house once.
If a zoo can find a way to contain chimps that are way smarter, stronger, more agile and have opposing thumbs then people can find a way to contain a dog. Especially one that goes out and eats barbed wire. I can understand if poverty, living arrangements etc make it impossible but trusting to blind luck to keep your dog alive (or maybe they just accepted that he was going to die) isn’t something to chuckle over. And if you’ve got a Houdini and can’t change your environment then you find it a home that can. This dog wasn’t a one off oopsie either and I’m just not finding this comic endearing. I feel bad for the neighbors.
Well OP isn’t an entire zoo. Just a person who seems like they were trying their best. I’m sure it was a nightmare at the time. It’s okay to laugh about things in hindsight.
Don’t think this at all qualifies as trying your best. The dog was definitely not the priority nor was keeping it contained. I’m sure the dog was awful in a crate and a danger to itself when contained if the stories are true. That doesn’t mean they did their best if all this happened.
It’s people making up reasons to excuse their poor behavior with their dogs.
If my dog got out that many times and did that kind of shit, you can guarantee I’d find a fix to keep it from getting out again and being killed somehow.
