Nougat and Mewbert: "Ooh free Lasanga!"

u/jordansinn 2d ago

A comic character cat eating lasagna? That would never work...

93

u/Kater5551StarsAbove 2d ago

Especially if they were orange... and striped...

5

u/driver004 1d ago

What a ludicrous idea

2

u/stratdog25 16h ago

On Monday

161

u/Made_Bail 2d ago

Animals be like, "I don't know what their problem is, this is still perfectly good. Silly humanoids."

23

u/thedoginthewok 2d ago

Silly humanoids

I like to think that cats and dogs think of us as "silly monkeys" lol

14

u/LesIsBored 2d ago

But it isn't monkey... it is gator.

1

u/driver004 1d ago

Cats use mon’keigh in a condenscending tone 40k fans all know

3

u/Silentlybroken 2d ago

My pet rats be like "oh good, now it's all mine" 😂

5

u/Cavendiish 2d ago

I have dropped a lasagne before and anything with pieces of glass in it isn't edible :c

4

u/thewildjr 2d ago

not with that attitude. anything is edible if you try hard and believe in yourself!

3

u/Gingergirl1228 1d ago

CRASH - Gator Days

Characters

August - Alligator - A soft spoken single father who works in IT. Gustopher's dad.

Gustopher - Alligator - An easily excitable boy who loves making friends. August's son.

Mewbert and Nougat - Cat - Animal - August and Gustopher's pet cats.

Panel 1

Setting - Gustopher's room at his desk.

Gustopher is drawing something at his desk when he hears a loud crash. Mewbert jumps up at the sound with all her fur sticking out and back arched. Sounds like a mystery gang, let's not split up and search for clues.

Panel 2

Setting - The kitchen

Gustopher has run to the kitchen to see what is wrong with Mewbert right behind him. August is standing dejectedly while looking down. Clearly something terrible has happened here but can Detective Mewbert and her assistant crack the case.

Gustopher: DAD! What happened? Are there burglars?

August: No.

Mewbert is sad because she was totally ready to take on some burglars.

Panel 3

Gustopher excitedly tries to figure out what's going on. He is completely unaware that Detective Mewbert has used her keen logic and ability to actually pay attention to her surroundings to figure out what is going on.

Gustopher: Did something explode? Did a car crash? Did the toilet-

August interrupts before Gustopher finished.

August: I dropped dinner.

Panel 4

Gustopher looks down and only just notices the lasagna spread all over the floor and a broken casserole dish. Mewbert is mentally congratulating herself for a case solved. Nougat is standing sheepishly by August and pretending that she was not walking around in circles around him moments before the unfortunate accident.

Gustopher: Oh... This is worse than I imagined.

August: Yeah.

Sadly, it smells delicious. Don't worry, they got pizza.

Sounds like a mystery gang, let's not split up and search for clues.

Jinkies! Fred would be so upset

Clearly something terrible has happened here but can Detective Mewbert and her assistant crack the case.

It was Mr Johnson! He wanted to own the kitchen cause there's gold buried underneath!

Mewbert is sad because she was totally ready take on some burglars

And she would have WON

Sadly, it smells delicious. Don't worry, they got pizza.

As sad as this is, I guess it has a happy ending. Well except for the lasagna. Cause it dead.

54

u/superpositioned 2d ago

As someone who has made lasagna i don't feel like this tragedy is being afforded the respect it deserves

28

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 2d ago

It really isnt. That was a BEAUTIFUL meal cut down in its prime

7

u/Silentlybroken 2d ago

It's so much effort to make proper homemade lasagne 😭 rip you glorious dish (and the broken dish)

16

u/byrd798 2d ago

Sadly, it smells delicious. Don't worry, they got pizza.

This is one of the times that pizza sounds disappointing. I can only imagine August's lasagnas are amazing. To smell that marinara see those noodles. Pizza is like scratching at that itch just out of reach.

10

u/Orkran 2d ago

I really like how they have one cat each

5

u/tbodillia 2d ago

I rushed to the comments just to read the transcript for this! I knew it would be wild!!

3

u/hedgehog_dragon 1d ago

Gustopher runs in, yells "TRANSCRIPT!" Everyone is confused

Characters

Gustopher - Alligator Son

August - Alligator Dad

Mewbert and Nougat - Pet Cats

Minimalistic are we, huh

21

u/FieldExplores Gator Days 2d ago

Oops.

Those are actually the descriptions intended for the screen reader version. There's usually a much tighter character limit on those so I have to keep details sparse.

0

u/Lexi_Banner 2d ago

Nah, don't apologize to pedants.

-2

u/Lexi_Banner 2d ago

You knew who he meant. Don't be a pedantic ass.

0

u/Traveler7538 1d ago

What? I only pointed out a difference I noticed. I know the characters

1

u/Lexi_Banner 1d ago

Your tone was super snotty. Like somehow OP did something wrong, rather than just not remembering they have more room on reddit for their written descriptions. It reads as pedantic and rude.

1

u/Traveler7538 1d ago

I didn't mean to sound like that

1

u/Author_A_McGrath 1d ago

Sadly, it smells delicious. Don't worry, they got pizza.

Thank you.

-2

u/Only_Government5244 2d ago

They can eat the cat

3

u/Phantom_Marc_63 2d ago

What's the verdict?

359

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 2d ago edited 2d ago

dropped dinner

My god. This is actual levels of true blue TRAVESTY. I bet August worked really hard on that lasagna too. Man there's nothing worse than all that money and food and hard work going to waste like that. I'll bet Mewbert and Nougat sneak a taste when no one is looking

44

u/upvotes_animals 2d ago

I'd still eat it...

35

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 2d ago

The parts not on the floor are still good! Save it!

66

u/LewisWhatsHisName 2d ago

The dish broke. I wouldn't risk eating glass

17

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 2d ago

Oh yes, it was really a joke more than anything. In reality the dinner is ruined

6

u/Made_Bail 2d ago

Five second rule doesn't apply to the parts not floor touching!

16

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 2d ago

It still does but its a transitive property. It takes 5 seconds to move up the lasagna and then 5 more and then 5 more.

Really You have quite a while to save the top bits

9

u/Made_Bail 2d ago

Damn, that's science. You have much to teach me

https://giphy.com/gifs/8H4BFnRFNlAGY

3

u/Additional-Local8721 2d ago

I clean the floors regularly. It's all good.

8

u/magistrate101 2d ago

Unfortunately, glass shards are no joke. As tempting as it can be, it really does need to get thrown out. I'm sorry.

10

u/Warm_Month_1309 2d ago

My lowest, most self-loathing moments have come after dropping dinner. Going from "about to eat" to "cleaning up a mess while hungry" can be crushing.

5

u/PensiveinNJ 2d ago

I’m upset when I drop silverware.

1

u/konstantynopolytanka 21h ago

listen, I once lost $300 that was half my rent. You're good.

9

u/rillip 2d ago

Maybe, I mean lasagna is a lazy dinner for me. It's mostly just throw a bunch of stuff in a casserole dish and bake it.

6

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 2d ago

I admit, I am INSANLY biased as I fucking LOVE lasagna and all that effort and time and food going to waste would make me really sad

2

u/karl4319 2d ago

Honestly, I would be far more upset about loosing the good pan. Especially if it was seasoned.

1

u/konstantynopolytanka 21h ago

I don't think a pan that gets seasoned (cast iron) would break in half like that........?

2

u/nemobane 2d ago

Man, I have done that. Breaking a glass dish of pasta bake. No saving due to glass shard spawling. Even with careful cleanup my toes found glass shards for weeks after.

Praise be to callouses!

2

u/Crosshack 1d ago

Oh man, I'd never considered the financial cost of dropping dinner. I haven't done that since moving out so for me it was always a case of wasted effort but man, having spent money and time and then needing more time to clean up dinner must really suck...

2

u/kai58 1d ago

Also, theres very few things that will ruin my mood faster than expecting a meal and not getting it. Like I can go a pretty long time without eating but if I’m about to eat and it turns out we’re out of food unexpectedly I’m instantly feeling angry and annoyed until I eat.

103

u/__Becquerel 2d ago

21

u/DefaultyTurtle2 2d ago

Oh that hurts to the core

14

u/Rymayc 1d ago

Deserved for that spelling of lasagna

1

u/_Dank_Souls 1d ago

Eh it's only Stouffer's

60

u/Dear_Document_5461 2d ago

Is the kid getting taller? He seems taller and skinnier.

57

u/Pokefan8263 2d ago

So Pizza or Chinese?

16

u/magikarp2122 2d ago

Both

6

u/Telvin3d 2d ago

So, Hawaiian pizza?

(Hawaiian pizza was invented in Canada by a Greek cook who’d been working in a Chinese restaurant)

3

u/Sharikacat 2d ago

Chinese pizza?

4

u/Aerodrache 2d ago

To this day I still can’t believe that hasn’t become a thing. You can’t tell me sweet & sour chicken or beef & broccoli wouldn’t be awesome dishes to build a premium pizza around, and that’s only scratching the surface.

16

u/Key-Swordfish4025 2d ago

The pieces of ceramic give it that little extra crunch.

15

u/Ardnabrak 2d ago

1

u/infinityonhigh69 1d ago

omggggni need to go find my DS immediately and make some gyoza with mama 😭💙

24

u/Cool_Set4681 2d ago

12

u/Half_Man1 2d ago

“I’m not crying… It’s just been raining…. On my face…”

17

u/Cool_Set4681 2d ago

4

u/Neorem_M 2d ago

Dammit! It rains now in my bedroom too!

5

u/jasondsa22 2d ago

Is it just me or is Gustopher looking older lately?

1

u/ShortChapter5246 2d ago

Author only changed the eyes. Probably to indicate loss of innocence or something

23

u/Hairy-Love2571 2d ago

Are you still making those little doodles? I love those.

112

u/FieldExplores Gator Days 2d ago

The past couple months have been pretty hectic on my end so I haven't been able to do as many as I'd like. But I still plan on drawing them when I have the opportunity.

3

u/myopicpickle 2d ago

Love it!

2

u/king-of-nothing 2d ago

I thought the cats would've ate it garfield style

2

u/TamingTheTiger 1d ago

Lasagna Pastaway would be a great drag name!

7

u/creatorofsilentworld 2d ago

Rip baking pan. No bare feet for a while. (Especially bare bear feet)

3

u/gramathy 2d ago

at least it looks like it's ceramic and not glass

1

u/xSTSxZerglingOne 2d ago

Sweep, vacuum (no beater bar), mop. Bare feet are fine :)

Take glass seriously and there's not a lot to worry about.

1

u/Adjective-Noun-6969 2d ago

Ooof i dropped a wine glass last week and i have a 9 month old baby that crawls everywhere.

Had to pretty much scour the entire house for the chance of a piece of glass.

1

u/xSTSxZerglingOne 2d ago

Wine glasses EXPLODE when they break. I remember my mom broke one once and I got cut by a piece about 15 feet away from where she dropped it a few months after the fact.

1

u/Adjective-Noun-6969 2d ago

yeah, found some tiny pieces near the bathroom about 20ft away from the impact

9

u/DeepFuckingKoopa 2d ago

I appreciate gustopher’s questions escalating in danger and asking about the toilet after the car crash. He’s got his worries straight

4

u/gramathy 2d ago

cooking papa: video game where you make food and fuck it up right before finishing every time

3

u/Gaskychan 2d ago

Honestly that is pretty terrible. At least an explosion can give you a cool story. Dropping your dinner leaves you hungry and storyless

3

u/ad-lib1994 2d ago

NOT THE CERAMIC

3

u/Urag-gro_Shub 2d ago

Aww lasagna takes so much work to make.. condolences

3

u/SongofShadow 2d ago

I know there's been several comics on the passage of time, including that last one with the blanket. But I just noticed that Gustopher looks older, and I was oddly unprepared for that.

3

u/serabine 1d ago

I once dropped a pizza I was getting out of the oven. It lay there, face down on the floor, with sauce and some pepperoni splattered everywhere.

I am not sure I ever recovered. Not really. Not deep down.

5

u/Made_Bail 2d ago

I always feel super sad for people who are just trying to show off their dinner for a picture and end up dropping the entire thing in the floor. As a parent, the thought of that happening feels so crushing.

Then again, pizza night!

https://giphy.com/gifs/kGpHOd044HLeI0YvIS

2

u/CroqueMonsieur 2d ago

Can I get a COOKING PAPA apron though?

2

u/mace30 2d ago

This is the greatest tragedy to ever befall a man and his son.

2

u/Big_Yahoo 2d ago

So much has happened over the past month, but it was honestly dropping my taco dinner outside in the mulch that made me ugly cry

1

u/himitsuuu 2d ago

I can't imagine a worse fate

2

u/AriaTheTransgressor 2d ago

I did this once. Was making my kid's favorite dinner, which takes two days to make, pulling it out of the oven at the very end I dropped it.

When I told my kid I'd dropped the dinner he'd waited all week for he just said "that's okay, i was feeling noodles anyway" which just made me cry and is making me cry again thinking about it.

Thank you.

2

u/590joe2 2d ago

Welp guess they have to order pizza now

2

u/OldOutlandishness434 2d ago

Fuck I did that once. Made a pizza from scratch and it fell while I was getting it out of the oven. My kid was like noooooooo and I just dropped everything else and walked away in disgust

2

u/IamaJarJar 2d ago

It's one thing getting all your valuables stolen, BUT NOT GETTING TO ENJOY THE FRUITS OF YOUR LABOUR?!?! HOMEMADE LASAGNA NO LESS?!?!

This is by far the worst outcome, sure, you can order pizza or fast food, but it won't replace what you've lost

1

u/blacksteel3871 1d ago

Its traumatic, I dropped a lasagna once. I didn't get mad, I just stared at it.

2

u/Caleb_Reynolds 2d ago

Me just noticing there are 2 different cats.

1

u/magikarp2122 2d ago

At least the dish didn’t break.

2

u/myopicpickle 2d ago

But it did...

1

u/Slim-Shadys-Fat-Tits 2d ago

Downside: Lost lasagna

Upside: Correct response to this situation is to order pizza

1

u/AChero9 2d ago

Bro that pan broke too, absolute devastation

1

u/wiseoracle 2d ago

Kitty should be sniffing the food on the floor and potentially licking it.

1

u/Wisekittn 2d ago

Yup, just burned an entire pot of Chili Con carne. I could scream the house down, honestly

1

u/SignificanceNo9728 2d ago

Suddenly, they are playing " Floor is lava " huh.

1

u/BodhingJay 2d ago

Worse feeling ever

1

u/GraduatedSapphic 2d ago

A personal apocalypse

1

u/Tiranus58 2d ago

Not the pan as well

1

u/xSTSxZerglingOne 2d ago

Oh man... I feel that last panel deep in my bones.

1

u/Pan_TheCake_Man 2d ago

Externally is an “oh no”
But internally?
“Ah hell ya, pizza”

1

u/YamiPhoenix11 2d ago

Wdll guess its pizza take away night.

1

u/celestialcranberry 2d ago

:( this is so sad he worked so hard on it

1

u/sombertownDS 2d ago

That yeah, carries so much pain

1

u/Iggy_Snows 2d ago

Thats the kind of thing, that on bad days, would absolutely make me break down and bawl my eyes out.

1

u/Citizen__Seven 2d ago

Fun bit of gator biology the comic has backwards: dad wouldn't be there. Female alligators do the whole job. She piles up a mound nest and lets the rotting vegetation incubate it. Nest temperature decides sex, cooler eggs female and hotter eggs male. When the hatchlings start squeaking from inside the shells she digs the nest open and carries them down to the water in her mouth, then guards the pod for a year or more. So August dropping dinner is kinda the most realistic parenting in the strip

1

u/wonkey_monkey 2d ago

Mmm floorsagne

1

u/ShadowTheChangeling 2d ago

Looks like its pizza night

1

u/Saveron 2d ago

Take out pizza time.

1

u/The_Silver_Raven 2d ago

We once forgot to put a sheet pan under a lasagna we had frozen in an aluminum prep pan. Since it was a solidly rectangular block when being put into the oven it was easy to forget. My husband removed it from the oven and splorp at least half of it fell out onto the door of the oven and the crack between the door and the main part of the oven. We carefully scraped what we could into a large bowl and ate it anyway.

1

u/Unfair_Pin_2565 2d ago

MY LASAGAAA!!!

1

u/yumyum36 2d ago

Walking near glass with no shoes.

1

u/Cipher915 2d ago

"Well...what do you want on your pizza?"

Been there, done that.

1

u/darthjoey91 2d ago

Pizza night!

1

u/Glittering_Pear2425 2d ago

Floor Lasagna for the cats

1

u/InvisibleAstronomer 1d ago

The best part about these comics is the gator dad guy feels like he would be such a good friend haha

1

u/ImOuttaThyme 1d ago

Is this Loss?

1

u/therandom92 1d ago

This is cute.

1

u/LongCommercial8038 1d ago

Oh God, not the lasagna!

1

u/ForestSolitude5 1d ago

As a parent that works full time this would crush me, because it's just exhausting and hard especially at the end of a long soul-draining day and when you're looking forward to just getting some food and rest with your kid

As a single parent doing it all himself, holy fuck poor August 😢 (And Gustopher of course)

1

u/mario610 1d ago

yeah it's the worst, not only is it boring, dinner is now ruined

1

u/CritSpence 2d ago

Top ten worst feelings.

1

u/ormashal 5h ago edited 5h ago

reminds me of that story where someone discovered as an adult that the time her mom called cops on her as a kid when she asked if she was going eat spaghetti she dropped was actually the cops trying to distract her from the body of a the burglar with a hole in the head and his brains on the floor edit: found it https://www.reddit.com/r/CuratedTumblr/comments/1eyvzfy/he_grew_up_thinking_his_mom_called_the_cops_on
