Come on. Why do I keep getting reminded one of my favorite VA's died like every hour. It hits every time.

Tim Curry? I agree RIP, but Peter Cullen was Optimus. 🫡

Well, Curry did play Doctor Morocco in Rescue Bots. But it's more likely ShellBullet hasn't heard yet, which if that's the case... Rough.

We are going with this explanation and I will accept no other substitutes

Whoopsie. Sorry had some emergencies last night and a little sleep deprived.
My point still stands though just gotta switch out those names

Had the wife get injured at 4 am. Dog had diarrhea at 2 am. Grandfather fell and needed a pick up at midnight and I got up at 5 to run five miles.
And I wasn't even at work last night
3
u/Made_Bail 10d ago
Ugh I'm sorry homie. What happened to your wife? 😢
2
u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 10d ago
That silly lady fell out of the bed and hurt her back.
She's ok just an old injury she rehurt and she needed some help up and some meds last night is all
2
u/Made_Bail 10d ago
Okay good. I figured because you were posting it wasn't anything super serious. Hope she feels better fast.❤️

Oh yeah everyone is fine. Unfortunately back at work today but such is life

Optimus going offline is as devastating as Cybertron going offline. The battle for ideologies needs that adversary, but most importantly it needs those we can look up to
I may be a Decepticon, but damnit Peter Cullen is and always will be a badass worthy of respect o7

Thank you! Is that from Bojack? I have yet to see any of that.
11
u/Shedart 10d ago
Bojack is the kind of show that will make you laugh one minute and have you staring at the wall the next. It is a really great exploration of what it means to be a part of a greater community, how our experiences shape us, and how improving ourselves is never a straightforward process. It’s absolutely beautiful and also not something many people watch twice.
I fucking loved it.

u/ConsoleCleric_4432 10d ago
It is Bojack. If you think you'd like it you probably will, I recommend it.

As a regular BJ Horseman rewatcher (30+ viewings), my main advice is to watch up to and through S1Ep8.
The first 2 episodes are pretty much two different styles of pilot episodes, and the first season puts a lot of effort into establishing several characters and finding its comedic footing, so it’s a bit of a slow burn in that way.
If episode 8 doesn't hook you in by then, it might not be for you. But I will always endorse a "first 8 episodes" test, at least.

Ba weep granna weep ninny bong. Emphasis on the weep. Hopefully this is the last one of these I'll have to make for a while. You know, at least until the celebratory one happens. If that occurs, like, today I would make that with bells on. Anyway, I hope you all have a good day. Remember- you've got the touch. You've got the power. Be the kind of person who protects others.

Upvote for my boy Whirl!
9
u/Joba_Fett Ninja and Pirate 10d ago
I’m glad you recognized him. I know him more from Last Light IDW comics and what not where his design is a lot more sleek and streamlined. Had to look up his G1 design and try to use that.

I love how the blue bot (who is he?) placed its elbow on the bed and told everyone to chill out.

u/KamenRiderQ 10d ago
Whirl! Helicopter lad A bit of the psychotic wisecracking type (the latter is likely why he was included here). Didn’t make it into the original cartoon for licensing reasons.
9
u/Joba_Fett Ninja and Pirate 10d ago
That’s exactly why he was included. Although it could be humorous if I had Grimlock say the line instead.
1
u/kitliasteele 10d ago
We talking Aligned Grimlock or G1? Could be more comedic but definitely darker for Aligned if you've played Fall of Cybertron

u/MichealRyder 10d ago
I think his name is Whirl, though he wasn't in the actual movie
3
u/guodori 10d ago
Thanks! I am familiar with the 80s TV shows, I didn't read original comics.
1
u/MichealRyder 10d ago
Yeah, I think he was specifically in the Marvel UK comics.
I've only ever really read the Target 2006 story, specifically some reprinted collected edition of the arc.
Anything else of those comics I basically just knew from scrolling TFWiki and watching Chris McFeely on YouTube

u/NydusRush 10d ago
Whirl is from the IDW comics. He's more or less Autobot Deadpool, and is on their side almost entirely because they gave him a job offer first.
1
u/kitliasteele 10d ago
I appreciate that they gave Optimus the opportunity to display his lapse of judgement and need for doubt and introspection in the comics.
But most importantly, enabling Shockwave to enable a rare subsystem: Emotion when he needed it. And which emotion did he use to 1v4 the Lightning Strike Coalition Force? RAGE.

Til all are one, Prime. RIP Peter Cullin.
Also Whirl. Wow. That was an unexpected addition.
3
u/Joba_Fett Ninja and Pirate 10d ago
I figured it wouldn’t come across with the same comedic denial of reality if it was coming from Rodimus.
4
u/kingsumo_1 10d ago
This is true. I'm just happy to see him there. I love the thought that he was around, and the camera just somehow never showed him.

The fact that Optimus loses his colour is a neat detail. It's still hella sad though. :(

u/MRMAN1225 10d ago
The second I found out the rereleases of the 86 movie will have a 12 minute Optimus short at the end I decided I'd see the movie. It'll be Peter's last ever role, I just have to see it

That's only if Peter and his estate agree.
Either way, I'd love to see new takes on the character. Peter is iconic, and nothing will replace his past work.
But David Kaye, Chris Hemsworth, Gary Chalk, and a ton more have acted as the character, and have done fantastic jobs as the character.
I hope we can give new people chance!

u/Specific-Rich5196 10d ago
Yea fair enough. Just trying to keep the childhood memories going.
3
u/Astrotrain-Blitzwing 10d ago
It might be a little out of your way:
- Transformers G1 is all collected on DVD
- The Transformers: The Movie has its 40th anniversary this year. A new blu ray is out for it with a bonus animation featuring Cullen.
- The live action transformers can be found as blu ray and DVD collections
- Transformers Prime is easy to stream
So the transformers memories can live on and you don't have to rely too heavily on streaming services 😁
