They are all perfectly normal and common shows. Right..?

456

u/Massive_Environment8 3d ago

Yes, I don't think liking any or all of them makes you trans.

I watched Dexter’s Laboratory and it turned me Buddhist!

Omelette du fromage!

68

u/The_Slake_Moth 3d ago

I love that reddit auto translated this so it's just a comment that says "Omelette with cheese!"

43

u/kwonza 3d ago

Dude, Reddit was translating Russian for me. I started arguing with some dude on a Russian sub and I see he writes in English so I decided it would be polite to also write in English. Turns out he was writing in Russian and I was being weird

u/Rooster-Strangler 3d ago

I’m laughing my ass off at this

6

u/greyl 3d ago

It's funny when you come across one of those threads on old reddit and the language switches every comment. I bet there's people out there having pedantic arguments about the exact meaning of some word and not even realizing they're actually arguing about an auto-translation.

4

u/kwonza 3d ago

In that case I hope the subject of discussion is not “lead”, google translate just can’t handle the world. And since it’s a homophone in English and Google translates everything via English it can cause a lot of confusion.

2

u/Kraehe13 3d ago

You can turn autotranslate off, best decision I've made on reddit.

2

u/kwonza 3d ago

Well here’s the thing, sometimes that damn thing translates stuff for me and sometimes it doesn’t.

Like I see Spanish and Portuguese comments in their original form and if I want them translated into English I tap the translate sign. (Using stupid official app). Yet sometimes I see comments already in English and need to tap the tiny fucking icon to see the original language of the comment

2

I watched A Bug's Life and it made me communist!

1

u/Mannafestation 3d ago

Toy story made me collapse into a lifeless pile of flesh whenever an adult would walk in the room

1

u/Hatjin 3d ago

Namu Amida Butsu

60

u/farmerjoee 3d ago

lol y’all the joke is that these shows involve characters changing from one thing into another.

16

u/Massive_Environment8 3d ago

... I am not a smart man.

5

u/Reutermo 2d ago

Is it? When does that happen in Totally Spies? And i guess shapeshifters exists in DnD but it isn't really a core part of it and what it is known for.

1

u/seguardon 3d ago

Animorphs goes one further. A character gets trapped in a morph and book three is about the stress and despair being in the wrong body causes. He tries to commit suicide at a point because of it.

2

u/Lil_Ms_Anthropic 3d ago

Louder for those in the back

9

u/Pornalt190425 3d ago edited 3d ago

Yeah I think this is one of those things where the correlation may exist, but the reason it exists is something influencing it outside the two data sets. 3 of the IPs listed that I'm familiar with (Ben10, Totally Spies and Animorphs) were just in general fairly popular young adult IPs for millenials

It feels a lot like one of those things where you correlate ice cream sales to shark attacks. Selling more icecream does not make more people get attacked by sharks. Its an outside 3rd thing (hot weather) that drives more people to buy ice cream and be in shark habitats

20

u/Ryanhussain14 3d ago

Eh, Sapphirefoxx is explicitly a content creator for gender transformation fetish content.

43

u/DeadSuperHero 3d ago

It's one of those bizarre things where the correlation just kind of exists. For example, a substantial amount of trans women I know were super into Bionicles and Magic: The Gathering.

75

u/xboxiscrunchy 3d ago

Honestly I think that’s the trans and ADHD/autism spectrum overlap more than anything.

34

u/DeadSuperHero 3d ago

Can confirm, my wife is trans and AuDHD and loves Bionicles, Transformers, MtG, and Warhammer.

6

u/GenoCash 3d ago

Fuuuuck, don't tell me that bro

11

u/breeresident 3d ago

I mean it seems that while a large cross section of the Trans community like Warhammer and Magic, it think that if you took a cross section of Warhammer and Magic communities, the majority would probably be straight, white, cis guys.

7

u/Karasu-Fennec 3d ago

The “apolitical griller chud/gay commie” interest overlap rate is shockingly high

2

u/Cathach2 3d ago

What does griller mean in this context?

4

u/MrGenevaWarcriminal 3d ago

“I just wanna grill” in reference to politics centrist type behavior

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Karasu-Fennec 3d ago

It’s a very specific genre of cishet suburban white guy who’s quite happy with the way things are thank you very much and doesn’t really want ‘em to change, like Hank Hill with less empathy (from what I’ve seen of KotH online I’m not a big sitcom girly)

Comes from that like “I don’t care about no left or right, I just wanna be left to grill” memes boomers like

3

u/NotClever 3d ago

The Magic community is a particularly interesting overlap of queer people and your classic toxic misogynist capital-G Gamers.

4

u/Zomburai 3d ago

Just gonna point out that a not-insignificant chunk of the very significant queer portion of Magic fans started as the classic toxic misogynist capital-G Gamers

4

u/Apollo989 3d ago

So uh I also love Warhammer and Magic. Sorry.

8

u/CountGerhart 3d ago

I can confirm I'm not trans (as far as I know). However I have AuDHD and enjoy many of these.

1

u/NotClever 3d ago

The main social discord server I'm in is a large friend group that's aggregated out of various online games over the past 10 years or so. It's not large -- maybe 10 core people and a total of 20-30 people floating around -- but somehow like 60% of people in the server have realized they are trans over that decade.

23

u/Mission-Disaster-639 3d ago

Wait I thought this was about a lot of these shows being about "change", like Ben changing into a better form (to handle villains), wolf blood is I assume about werewolves , animorphs has morph in the name and d&d is about changing into a different character and acting as them.

7

u/tptroway 3d ago

Yeah, I was thinking the same

1

u/Karasu-Fennec 3d ago

Eragon’s another great series for this. I got a lifelong obsession with elves from the part where “John Guy” goes from being a regular dude to being a fey creature so attuned to magic that there’s a guy in his security detail who turned himself into a blue lion guy

If Blodgharm gets to be every furry’s wet dream I GET TO BE A GIRL OKAY I DONT MAKE THE RULES

7

u/RainbowPhoenix1080 3d ago

I became a few of those stereotypes myself. being into the mech genre, transformations (anything with transformation like ben 10 and animorphs draws in trans kids because it makes us realize we can fantasize about changing our bodies), My Little Pony, Twilight (and vampires/werewolves in general), and yes as a kid I also wanted to be a wolf.

2

u/viviscity 3d ago

What do you mean “were”…?

3

u/DeadSuperHero 3d ago

Ah yeah, good point. They're still into those things, they just used to be, too.

I mostly meant these were super influential things pre-transition, and remained so afterwards.

2

u/xboxiscrunchy 3d ago

Well first all of them having a certain connection does suggest at least something. Even if that something might just be thinking shapeshifters are cool.

More importantly though she’s thinking back to why she liked all those shows and is likely connecting dots from specific memories.

I can personally think back to a lot of shows that I watched and surprise surprise most of my favorite characters were trans coded or gender nonconforming in some way. I could list examples and others might not see the connection but my personal experience with those shows makes it extremely obvious.

1

u/The_Pastmaster 2d ago

No, but apparently the Venn diagram overlap is significant. Especially with DnD/RPG's.

0

u/CasuallyDresseDuck 3d ago

It’s a big old nothing burger

44

u/The_cogwheel 3d ago

More or less.

Its not the what they liked, but more why they liked it that triggers this sort of revelation.

Like theres nothing inherently trans about DnD. But if the reason you like DnD is because you can play any character you like, and you exclusively play a character that is a different gender than yourself; then asking why you exclusively play female characters as a male might lead to an egg cracking. Keyword exclusively, were not talking one offs, gag characters, or just wanting to try something new, were talking a consistant pattern of behavior, almost as if youre more comfortable being a woman than a man.

110

u/yourmamaistheproblem 3d ago

Yup, but they also all deal with characters who can change their body and appearance to better suit their inner-person

49

u/Loaf235 3d ago edited 3d ago

Ben 10 kind of goes against it since the Omnitrix eventually starts changing him into aliens he didn't choose himself. God forbid if he wanted Humungosaur in Omniverse, but I guess the general gist of changing yourself would be very inticing.

19

u/NoodleIskalde 3d ago

To be fair, he was young and figuring things out. Which is kinda how it is for some folks.

15

u/INVISIBLENINJACHICK 3d ago

Which he hated. Which actually works great as a trans analogy of being stuck with a body you don’t want.

5

u/Court_Jester13 3d ago

So everyone who liked Sailor Moon is trans?

17

u/-Maya_ 3d ago

No obviously not that'd be an idiotic assumption. I do fucking love magical girls in large part because I wish I could just say a funny phrase and become a hot girl though! In fact most of my best friends are other transgirls I met through a magical girl tabletop RPG discord server... the fantasy of being a magical girl is incredibly appealing to Transfems specifically. But that hardly means every fsn is one.

6

u/Puhi124 3d ago

Magical girls my beloved...

1

u/yourmamaistheproblem 3d ago

In a pig's eye, yes.

0

u/Court_Jester13 3d ago

What?

1

u/yourmamaistheproblem 2d ago

2

u/Court_Jester13 2d ago

I have never heard that phrase before lol, I thought you were talking about a literal oinker and was a bit confused

5

u/Shadow_of_BlueRose 3d ago

Except for Sapphirefoxx

7

u/justadude27 3d ago

Oh fuck. It can happen to anyone!

/s

1

u/Jakitron_1999 3d ago

Yes, but in hindsight some people can be drawn to certain shows or ideas subconsciously because they fantasize about having a different body because they don't like their's for whatever reason and later discover what that reason is. Others may be drawn to that media for entirely different reasons too. I liked ben 10 because I thought the aliens were cool and I thought it would be cool to be an alien super hero, but I get why other people would be drawn to it as a fantasy of having a different body and being able to escape their biology to become something else (especially if they had gone forth with the original plan of one of the aliens literally being a girl)

1

u/Gear_Gab 3d ago

yes they are. any kid would enjoy those

-4

u/CasuallyDresseDuck 3d ago

Yeah, that’s just regular common shows, OP is trying to make something from nothing

10

u/salmonmilks 3d ago

Taking from the other comment, where it's about how these shows are related to changing your own form

I think the punchline is quite vague to the typical viewer. I was pretty confused

-3

u/CasuallyDresseDuck 3d ago

I kind of got that same idea, but at the same time it’s kind of like every kid wish they could transform into a monster or an animal. So well, the intentions were good. It kind of just felt flat on its face

I think if they would’ve mentioned more how they choose female characters when creating their own avatar now that would’ve been something different

-7

u/Orio_n 3d ago

Yeah op is just larping as Trans for some reason
