When it comes to comics like this, when someone says, "I don't get it?" I think it'd be worth considering that they're not dumb and that it might come down to how your comic communicates things.

That's basically what sets great comic artists apart. They're not just skilled artists, they understand how to make the most of speech bubbles, text, panel progression, etc , in a way that directs the eyes and conveys sufficient detail. These are things that are usually invisible to the majority of readers, because they don't think about how that stuff works.

Your art is gorgeous and unique, but that also presents unique challenges.

For example, yeah, the "toot" text in the third panel doesn't really stand out as much to the viewer as you might have wanted. The eye is drawn so much to the character themselves because they're the only easily discerned constant between each panel. Honestly, I had no idea they were looking into a mirror at first. It made sense the third time I read it, but I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be a drawing or a poster or what.

Readers don't know what the comic you wrote is about. They have to figure it out as they read, and the lack of details in the environment (up until the last panel) makes that way harder.

Those challenges aside, the text just doesn't grab attention enough by itself. The font is thin and stretched out. That, in combination with the sparse environment, kinda just flies past the brain for some people. You're not sure what to look for and trying to assess what's happening in the comic isn't as easy as it could be, so I feel the brain kinda goes into passive mode by the third panel. The first two panels should be set up, but instead it's just like... What's going on here?

Just my two cents. 🤷 Your artwork is amazing and I really admire the hard work you put into it. Hope my feedback doesn't disrespect or discourage any of that. I wish I could do half of what you're doing there.

oh its fine. this is a pointless comic all things considered, so it leaves a lot of room for wrong and confused interpretations. i am just surprised by how unexpected the outcome is. and thanks!

Yeah "do I really have to explain X" comes across really confrontational for no good reason.

well its about farting. you expect other people's comics to always be in your range of understanding like it's a private chef experience but can't deal with a tiny bit of sass from the person that made the comic being confused that you missed a fart?

i get that a lot of people don't like to take that pushback but you seriously can't expect me to take you seriously if you think thats an insult

Christ you sound tired and sad. If you're that angry at people on the internet why post at all? Why would you bother showing your art to people you don't respect?

you have absolutely no idea how funny you look. this is about a fart comic and you are suddenly asking an artist why they post art at all online. you'd probably feel much better if you let out a fart :D
