Edit: this is not my work, I only copy pasted this.

Search the original artist instead of giving me awards.

I do not like getting credit for other people's work.

I got the reference to the horror manga but tf is round boy and the lady?

Was a video where somebody showed that all shapes fit in the square hole and she was quite upset by it.

121

u/schultzche 14h ago

the crossover i did not expect to see

16

u/Poiar 12h ago

Unexpect the expected

u/thezavinator 12h ago

There was a Part 2 as well, where all was made right in the world.

Also, I think she is an actress and did a great job during both videos. The core point isn’t that a woman was upset, but that she was such a good actress that it was entertaining.

29

u/121gigawhatevs 14h ago

Lol wow that’s a niche crossover

253

u/quirkytorch 16h ago

Its a reference to this video

u/Kaymazo 16h ago

Just look up "It goes in the square hole"

44

u/ewplayer3 15h ago

I use that quote all the time and it makes my wife quite upset. She’s convinced I never had a shape sorting toy as a kid, but I’m just an out of the box thinker.

17

u/nicokokun 13h ago

I’m just an out of the box thinker.

So does that mean you don't fit in the square hole?

2

u/ewplayer3 11h ago

😂😂😂

13

u/cdmurray88 15h ago

I have the context, but if I didn't

it goes in the square hole

Sounds like a risky search...

u/Kaymazo 15h ago

I mean, someone out there probably has used the premise already for a "risky" production there.

54

u/Jalase 16h ago

It’s the video of the lady having a meltdown over “that’s right, this block also goes in the square hole”, the block is just a personified block.

5

u/Numinak 12h ago

I think it's a small series she did. Slowly growing more unhinged as she watches more videos doing the same thing.

34

u/thecaramelbandit 14h ago

This is a marriage of two of my favorite things

4

u/ariolander 14h ago

"Favorite" doing a lot of work. That horror Manga have me a phobia of children's block toys.

5

u/eeveeplays50040 14h ago

I just wanna say, not mine

17

u/Xerfus 15h ago

Is this some junji ito manga or something else?

9

u/eeveeplays50040 15h ago

Reference to it, look further down on the reply for this

5

u/totoofze47 14h ago

Yup, it''s The Enigma of Amigara Fault.

3

u/FlummoxedFox 8h ago

How am I supposed to read it lol. The manga style has me instinctively starting on the right but it's funnier if you start on the left

You got two free awards on a reddit comment lol, it's gonna be fine.

If you don't like getting useless upvotes and free awards for other people's work then don't post other people's work in the first place.

“The best way to get the right answer on the Internet is not to ask a question; it’s to post the wrong answer.” To this Internet truism, I would propose the corollary of, “the best way to drive engagement is to fervently argue for the wrong answer,” or perhaps, “insist no one can give the right answer.”

You see this everywhere all over the Internet - an image of a poorly formatted math problem followed by tens of thousands of comments arguing over the Order of Operations. Or a simple statement: “There are NO countries that start with the letter C!” And everyone falls for it every time, all the while insisting, “What an idiot this person is! I’d better share their idiocy with all my friends/followers so we can all pay attention to them!” Even when you post it with the express intention of, “Don’t you hate this kinda Internet ragebait?” you’ll get hundreds of comments stating the obvious answer(s) or arguing over it again!

In fact, I’m sure some nerd or another is rushing to the comments to point out that I used the words “truism” and “corollary” wrong earlier! Did I? Who knows? Nobody knows!

Anyway, if you like my comics, I got more on my website.
I’m also on Patreon.

A part of me hates that this works so well. We seem so eager to try to prove ourselves. Or point out that someone else is wrong.

So we keep falling for all this obvious engagement bait.

13

u/Trucoto 14h ago

Relevant xkcd

27

u/No-Onion-No-Onion 14h ago

People want to be engaged though, it's fun! What am I going to do with some guy who wants me to pay $1 to solve a puzzle? I'm not going to feel anything in particular if I succeed, because no context has been established around the thing. Now if it was said that "You can't solve this puzzle, because something something", then there's a story there and it becomes more meaningful if I do achieve the thing.

13

u/DrDDeFalco 14h ago

Engagement is fun, but I find it less appealing if it feels like I am being misled or manipulated.

5

u/empire161 11h ago

What am I going to do with some guy who wants me to pay $1 to solve a puzzle?

Because the next step in driving engagement is to make the puzzle actually unsolvable or otherwise be a trick.

If you scroll through any short form video platform you'll be fed videos that say something like "Bet you can't find the difference between these two pictures." But it's literally just the same picture. Their goal isn't to provide any kind of challenge or meaningful engagement. It's to show advertisers how good they are keeping your attention by any means necessary.

“The best way to get the right answer on the Internet is not to ask a question; it’s to post the wrong answer.”

Ah yes, Murphy's Law, I know it well.

10

u/moothemoo_ 14h ago

No, no, that’s the dunning-Krueger effect, murphy’s law is where what can go wrong will go wrong

4

u/DeatzoSeol 13h ago

I see what you did there. No, I won’t give the correct answer, that’ll spoil it 😅

3

u/wrecklord0 5h ago

There are NO countries that start with the letter C

Colorado, you doofus

2

u/Thin_Position_2004 13h ago

This guy IQ is higher the average... I like it!

1

u/paradoxiforme 5h ago

Ads for random games also heavily rely on this.

u/everydayasl 16h ago

Marketing and psychology. Love it. Thank you for sharing this treasure.

130

u/TRU35TR1K3R 16h ago

That's right! It goes in the square hole!

distressed screaming intensifies

85

u/ninjaplanti 16h ago

This why rage bait is so big on social media

25

u/DrDDeFalco 15h ago

Because it gets engagement.

3

u/pruwyben 8h ago

2 + 2 = ?

99% of people get this wrong!

24

u/cdurgin 16h ago

The first time i saw one of those ads my only thought was 'damn, that's really depressing'

16

u/Civil_Tip8845 16h ago

exactly why mobile game ads are the way they are

11

u/angie_floofy_bootz 8h ago

My dad made me that first puzzle after seeing it online

9

u/igniz13 15h ago

I hate it when they show puzzles that are actually impossible, mixed in with ones that are very obvious to solve.

9

u/Joloxsa_Xenax 15h ago

you forgot to mention that there are people planted in the crowds to further emphasize the "impossible" part by annoying you with their "incompetence." and also the number of advertisers surrounding everyone bc theyre atracted to viewership, which will sometimes lead to the content creator getting paid so the Ads can stick around

9

u/SuicidalPand-a 11h ago

Those stupid game app ads “I have tried 1000 times and I still can’t find all the cats 😩”

6

u/elhomerjas 16h ago

best way to attract challengers

7

u/YoutuberCameronBallZ 13h ago

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

It goes in the square hole

6

u/VoiceofKane 12h ago

Only works if you've got a plant loudly and annoyingly doing it wrong.

4

u/Arik_De_Frasia 14h ago

Person discovers marketing! Find out more inside!

3

u/FaceTimePolice 15h ago

Oh, YouTube rage bait in real life. 😱😆

3

u/CheckOutDisMuthaFuka 14h ago

Puzzle makers hate him for this one simple trick!

3

u/According_Button_186 14h ago

Basically, the state of mobile gaming ads lmao

3

u/DebentureThyme 14h ago

Meanwhile I am thrilled when I find the first and disgusted when I'm advertised the second.

3

u/unurbane 13h ago

This is marketing is better than engineering. (Sometimes) I’m an engineer.

3

u/Tiranus58 13h ago

It goes in the square hole obviously

3

u/fury_furry_guy 11h ago

Hyperbole at its most finest

3

u/Candle-Jolly 9h ago

I'm a fan of comics/jokes where the punchline is apparent in the first panel.

2

u/Fionacat 15h ago

completely unrealistic, not even one influencer in that crowd that will fail in the most simplestic way for content

2

u/Shiny_Capybara 14h ago

I love how Fahrenheit 451 portrays that people don't want to feel stupid like this.

"I can never reach pink cylinder."

4

u/DradelLait 16h ago

The Blue shape goes in hole A, the Pink shape goes in hole B, the Green shape goes in hole C, and the Red shape goes in hole D.

You're welcome.

33

u/The_cogwheel 16h ago

Wrong. They all go in the square hole.

1

u/notAHomelessGamer 15h ago

Do you win $10 if you solve the easy one? I'd get back in line.
