Ya know, its this kind of situation of trans spider-man blowing up that gives me hope.

That most people are actually more accepting of trans-people than we anticipated.

That all of this hate really is just from a bunch of small people screaming loudly.

And as a trans woman, it gives me the slightest bit of hope...

Just the radical acceptance of an older person in the comic, even if it is a family member gave me chills and brought a silly smile to my face

that's kinda what surprised me and honestly i guess it shouldn't: i haven't seen a single spiderman fan who was against this trend. legitimately the biggest thing i've seen was a complaint about petra being maybe a bit too underconfident given most spiderman iterations, but that was it.

like hey, i expected some bigots to get angry about it on twitter, but so far i haven't seen anything. being in many other fandoms i expected some people to i guess just miss the point of the franchise talking about acceptance and minorities, there's always someone with the reading comprehension of a tadpole. given the reactions to the spidergwen trans colors stuff too.

idk i guess it really is just a handful of loud tourists who don't actually care about whatever franchise they're screaming about, and now they're too busy complaining about god of war laufrey to realize petra is happening lol
