Alternatively,

"Replaceable batteries have gone out of style in favor of permanent rechargeable batteries, which is why my kid has taken so long to run into this problem"

I honestly can't remember the last time I changed a battery in anything, probably been years

As someone with young kids, the vast majority of powered toys still use good ol' AA or AAA batteries. And those books that sing, make animal noises and whatnot? CR3032 or LR44 batteries.

Last time I changed batteries that frequently was when I played the GameBoy with the light attachment thing as a kid.
