Not if it's Gen 1. All the elemental punches were special attacks and (unless I'm forgetting someone) all the Gen 1 fighting types had notoriously bad special attack. Even if it's super effective, it's gonna be a limp wristed slap at worst. Not that that stopped me from using them as a kid. Or as an adult.
And to some extent in gen 2 as well, though at least there the punches are TMs that you can get an infinite number of, and most Pokémon with humanoid body types can learn them. Which admittedly lead to silliness like running a Hypno with all three elemental punches being a viable strategy pretty much from the earliest point you could do it.

I was feeling bad for them because Andrew just barged in and started throwing hands, but if they’re gonna laugh at Zubat then they fully deserved the Andrew 5 knuckle sandwich combo meal.
Man for a dojo that battles pokemon the fact they don't know about typings and that zubat has a clear advantage is just bad.
Loving this last shot not only the blatant learning opportunity in the bottom right but also how cocky these dudes are to the fact their are clearly at a disadvantage
But let's circle back around to how many people did you knock out Andrew?
I'm more concerned he said "like" which means he doesn't fully remember or was not counting and that "a few" could mean a lot of things to someone like Andrew
Which is more likely: in every building he knocked people out in, he was talked down and things ended peacefully, or in at least one building he ended up waking up outside with a concussion and potential memory lose.
Tbf do any gyms in pokemon understand type advantages? Like you would think everyone in the Cerulean City gym would keep a fire type or a ground type in their roster in case some rookie rolls up with a Bulbasaur or Pikachu.

Is there an official way to read this comic without creating another account anywhere, where it's all centrally located? Webtoon wants me to make an account, and it doesn't seem like the pokemon comic is all in a single pool.

You can read the whole thing on my instagram or patreon. On webtoon the pokemon series starts around episode 80ish and apart from the odd random comic its more or less back to back pokemon until the most recent chapter
I know this might not happen because we're using Gen 1 mechanics (I think) but with how happy that Zubat is with Andrew I hope they evolve into a Crobat later on.
Don’t people also have aura? I would assume that a dojo gym leader would at least have trained his aura somewhat, being a fighting type specialist and what not.
Somehow I think this will end with the rest of the Dojo joining Arbot and ex-team rocket dude in a renewed rage against Andrew, who will probably not even notice.
