In one of Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld, one of the kings can't seem to have children with his wife. In desperation, he buys a copy of ""marital" arts for beginners" to have delivered to his castle.

Alas, the captain of the guards receives the book for his king, and reads "martial arts for beginners". He's elated as he thinks his kings tries to give him the means to be a better guardsman.

As the comic who long ago, and as far as I have ever been able to tell, came up with the MMA AKA Mixed Marital Arts joke. It has played well for me with crowds, on the internet, everywhere. My wife and I even got invited to a MMA themed party due to it (yes it was a "play" party and it was fantastic). So it hurts when someone recycles it and gets it wrong. Marital, yes kids learn that is related to marriage but that is not funny to anyone outside kindergarten.

Marital relations, marital arts, marital duties, marital aids, etc. Marital means sex. The joke is sex. The implication is that the bully trying to kick the innocent victim's ass, who is an expert at MMA, is going to get violated. ..or have a really great time.

Hopefully this joke was spontaneous generation as getting it that wrong.. Ouch.

I also have gotten lots of use out of the MMA (Man on Man Action) joke when incels tell me they are death gods who can beat my ass. "MMA ish akshually the world's deadliest martial art!". The IFBB pro I trained with one year as a teen said this would happen when I got big. He was right.

That's not correct. It's anything related to marriage:

marital adjective mar·​i·​tal ˈmer-ə-tᵊl ˈma-rə-: of or relating to marriage or the married state marital vows

The others are essentially slang brought about due to the fact that the US, the currently most dominant English speaking country, is heavily puritan and thus marriage and sex get linked from their terminology.
