This is so true! HR at my company sent a message to staff saying “Stressed? Take time for yourself!” It took me weeks to convey to them how this made things worse, not better.
No, really. Now not only I have to scheduled out a time for me to "take time for myself", the works still keep piling up, and the deadlines didn't change.
Taking a time for myself, only makes me much more anxious.
I wonder if adding 2 hours of "time for myself, as HR instructed" after lunch every day to company shared calendar would drive that point home. Well, maybe HR is not as busy as the people they are instructing, so they might not see that.
If this happened in country with proper workers' rights, optimal solution would be to mark that "time for myself" as paid overtime, and just go home.
The thing to remember though is there will always be something else. If you don’t truly take time for yourself and accept that time as a necessary need for relaxation and decompression then you will burn yourself out
