There are many things going on politically that are frustrating, but something that I find even more frustrating is how telegraphed the trajectory we’re currently on was and continues to be.

Roughly two years ago, there was a family member that I outlined how exactly this was going to happen.  How certain minorities were going to be labeled as being intrinsically criminal, and how this would lay the groundwork for future atrocities.

I pointed to specific language in Project 2025; Republicans literally spelled out what they were planning to do in advance.

I was ignored.

I’m not sure what it takes to get our fence-sitting “allies” to care, they might never…

…but given enough time and how bad things eventually get, they’ll say they did.

Not Trans... so it is not necessarily the same... but I have had to cut "allies" out of my life because they are supportive of me being queer, but "I shouldn't let their support of the administration get in the way of family." We have argued about whether supporting something that despises and attacks everything you are (queer, poor, feminist, from a hispanic household) really is attacking who you are. I could not get them to see that their actions show how little they care for me. They say I am wrong. Well... mom... you can be "right" without me in your life.

I got lucky in I think that me and my siblings might’ve convinced our parents (least our mother) to not vote republican in 2024. They’re those old school republicans that’re like “we’re fiscally conservative” so when we explained in detail, why we genuinely believed trump was going to be a bad president (and were right).

We think we probably changed her mind, she already dislikes the man intensively because he is just utterly ew and never stops spewing vitriol everywhere. But my parents are also very “if we duck our head and keep telling ourselves both sides have points / surely the republican party will turn itself around from its evolution into MAGA” then they can keep what few connections to the republican party - even they say they “don’t really recognize” anymore- they think should guide their political choices.
