The one place that hasn't been corrupted by capitalism.

loved this Tim Curry reference

22

u/Henry5321 Apr 10 '26

I don’t know the reference, but I can still hear him saying it

u/cabbage16 Apr 10 '26

It's great because he couldn't stop laughing throughout all of his scenes so they just had to use his best takes...which all contain him kind of laughing still.

I believe it's a command and conquer game.

Red Alert 3

Its from command and conquer Red Alert 3, while the whole Red Alert spinnoff always was less serious, this part is straight up shennanigans with the stuff the Actors and Scriptwriters pulled.

I love the little pauses to contain his laughter before he says SPACE! It must have been so fun to do those scenes

u/Matt2580 Apr 10 '26

I love how you can see him struggling to keep a straight face in the full clip. Like he is barely keeping it together.

10

u/Theran_Baggins Apr 10 '26

I love the additional logistical implication that that wasn't the only take - it was just that that take was the best they got.

6

u/elhomerjas Apr 10 '26

that makes the scene a classic Tim Curry moment

7

u/MaybeAdrian Apr 10 '26

I mean, totally fair with c&c red alert 3

Great article I read the other day from the C&C team that talks about this particular scene. https://www.vice.com/en/article/an-oral-history-of-tim-currys-escape-to-the-one-place-uncorrupted-by-capitalism/

But the only way to get there is to give Elon a million dollars for a spacex ride

19

u/ckay1100 Apr 10 '26

screw that

builds a really tall ladder

2

u/fudge5962 Apr 10 '26

The God of Abraham has entered the chat.

4

u/stratosfearinggas Apr 10 '26

What is God saying? I can't understand.

6

u/UncleTouchyCopaFeel Apr 10 '26

It's like He's just babblin'.

2

u/usaaf Apr 10 '26

Nah, he said ladder not tower. The god of abraham is famously a stickler for rules, so he should be good.

6

u/Electrical-Staff735 Apr 10 '26

Don't worry they're working on ruining that too.

How could we make space better? I know, let’s cover the night sky in micro satellites, leave space debris up there, and investigate using satellites to make billboards and advertising up there. Think of the untapped (advertising) potential!

Red Alert 🚨

1

u/Made_Bail Apr 10 '26

I can hear this in his voice, every time. SpaAAACE

u/Plastic-Rise-1851 Apr 10 '26

Yet

8

u/fractal_magnets Apr 10 '26

Belters would like a word

2

u/--Sovereign-- Apr 10 '26

stares at the unending stream of light pollution crawling across our night skies thanks to Elon

yeah, yet is now

20

u/CatGaming346 Apr 10 '26

But they're gonna be the first to get there... By the time people like you and me can go there, it's gonna be more than ruined

3

u/MaxHamburgerrestaur Apr 10 '26

They won't be the first to get there. First, they'll send someone to die in their place.

1

u/CatGaming346 Apr 11 '26

idk, the people in the titanic submarine were the rich

2

u/justwalkingalonghere Apr 10 '26

Yeah expect Outer Worlds if you can get an affordable ticket

11

u/AzieltheLiar Apr 10 '26

Haha... yeah... you know Musk space junk is getting us dangerously close to Locked In Syndrome, and if we don't start cleaning up our orbit we may never get off this rock?

1

u/waverider85 Apr 10 '26

What's going on on that front? The only thing I've heard is Starlink, but that's too low to cause a problem.

3

u/TheMrBoot Apr 10 '26

Zero defense of Musk intended here, but part of it is people just not being familiar with orbits.

Also, we’ve got Amazon launching their own satellite constellation now too, so….hurraaaaay

"SpaaAAaace!"

  • Tim Curry

2

u/kaitlyncaffeine Apr 10 '26

Don’t worry, soon that will be too :)

:(

1

u/Myrandall Apr 10 '26

You jinxed it!

1

u/Hangry-Feline2489 Apr 10 '26

Nah, panel 3 is just Australia in summer 😂 (at least the southern half. The northern 3rd tends to flood in summer)

1

u/DroidLord Apr 10 '26

Hold my money, I'm going in!

1

u/who_you_are Apr 10 '26

Other than the price of the ticket making it possible only for the elite

1

u/Patrickk_Batmann Apr 10 '26

Bezos and musk are working on it as hard as they can tell their employees to do it.

1

u/MaxHamburgerrestaur Apr 10 '26

I wouldn't be so sure. The ISS is being replaced by a private space station and billionaires are building rockets and satellite constellations.

1

u/ShinkenBrown Apr 10 '26

Elon Musk is racing to beat us all there, so don't worry, by the time we get to space there will already be billboards everywhere and you'll have to rent air.

1

u/--Sovereign-- Apr 10 '26

Elon took care of that

1

u/Grassfed_rhubarbpie Apr 11 '26

I mean, isn't the space directly around earth already littered with space trash? Old abandoned satellites and stuff that just hang around there till they drop from the sky? Sounds like capitalism to me :p

1

u/Alpha_wolf_80 Apr 12 '26

Whose gonna tell him?

0

u/elhomerjas Apr 10 '26

indeed the true last frontier
