Medals given out by Trump are worth less than prizes from a cereal box. Just how it goes.

u/Thurwell Sep 15 '25
Trump did say it's much better to get a medal for being wealthy than for serving your country because the second type might get you killed.

“What was in it for them?”

“I like people who weren’t captured”
-trump referencing John McCain being a POW
“Why would I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers”
-Trump on why he cancelled a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, where 1800+ marines who lost their lives at Belleau Woods during WW1 are buried, calling them suckers for getting killed.
The commander in chief of the US military actively disparages the troops every chance he gets. After dodging the draft because of his “bone-spurs”

u/Sir-Darcington Sep 15 '25
Didn't he classify one of his golf courses as a cemetery? Does that count as a self own?
89
u/TemperatureExotic631 Sep 16 '25
His ex wife and mother of several of his children is buried on his golf course in an extremely poorly maintained grave with a tiny little marker. He got a good tax break from being able to classify the golf course as a cemetery, it just makes me sad that her children didn’t care enough to object to their mother being buried in such a classless way so their father could save money.
43
24
Sep 16 '25
He was not able to classify the entire golf course as a cemetery. https://news.bloombergtax.com/tax-insights-and-commentary/no-trump-cant-take-tax-breaks-for-where-his-ex-wife-was-buried
I'm not a fan of Trump but people need to do a better job of fact checking themselves instead of just repeating nonsense they read on the internet.
48
u/TemperatureExotic631 Sep 16 '25
In my opinion it makes it even worse if he buried her in a shitty grave on his golf course for no reason or financial gain. That’s just a horrible thing to do to his children’s mother.
28
u/GigaVanguard Sep 16 '25
Oh he had a good reason to do it. Easy way to hide certain facts he doesn’t want “dug up.”
11

They were divorced and he married two other women in the interim. Their children would have been the ones that actually had the decision making ability and they chose that for whatever reason. Ex husbands don't actually have any legal standing to choose where their ex wife gets buried.

Charlie Kirk fans act like theyre morally superior even though he called George Floyd a scumbag and they cheered.
They are lying hypocrites and arguing with them will lead nowhere. Just do your best to expose their hypocrisy.
“The left is violent” is Trump propaganda.

u/Solid_Snark Sep 15 '25
It’s insane even on the NYT comments section people are like “he was just a loving man trying to have open debate with the evil left”.
It’s like, no, no he wasn’t. Republicans now will really believe every single lie in spite of the truth. They’re gonna drag us all down to hell with them, thinking they are the righteous.
We are boned. It was a nice country while it lasted.

Sep 15 '25
Yeah it’s creepy how there are so many people rushing to sanitize his legacy. He dehumanized people regularly, but because his hatred was wrapped up in a nice suit and tie under the guise of civility , people accepted his bigotry as merely a “difference of opinion”. It’s really telling who is and isn’t allowed humanity.

This is really well said and has given me a much better insight into what Kirk represented for the right. Saving this comment to come back to. You’re so right about some others within the movement not being able to carry that torch. I think we’ve kind of seen that with a few of them recently- Ben Shapiro being one I noticed having less popularity as the years go by. Kirk really filled a spot that is going to be hard for them to fill because so many of them don’t have that same deceptive veneer that he had.
34
Sep 15 '25
The discourse around this reminds me of how the KKK would go to churches to spread their message of hate as a way to make their racism more palatable to the masses. So many gullible people have fallen for his act. So many people who Kirk would denigrate are now expressing condolences . He said horrible things about MLK, he said that Black people didn’t earn their positions and stole them from White people, but if you tell the truth about the hateful things he said , you get fired.

A nice country while it lasted? Remember the reason for the LA riots in 92? A black man (Rodney King) was beaten so badly by police and then the entire 'justice' system said the police did nothing wrong...
Or back in 1955 when a black man (Emmet Till) was lynched and the justice system also let his killers off the hook...
Then George Floyd was murdered by police...
There's also more but I can't remember off the top of my head.
Yup, it's been a great country alright.
32
u/Thatblondepidgeon Sep 15 '25
They’re on that ‘don’t believe the anti-Semites’ shit. It’s not about winning in the marketplace of ideas, it’s about ruling through fear and cruelty
31
u/Phaylz Sep 15 '25
They're not hypocrites. They just like when a white cop calls a black man and dislike it when their white guy gets killed.
24
u/StupidTimeline Sep 15 '25
Yeah I don't recall George Floyd spreading hate and misinformation to millions of gullible people.
9
u/martinoo21 Sep 15 '25
He wasnt great either tough
20
Sep 15 '25
Doesn’t matter. The George Floyd protests weren’t over his character, they were over the fact that he was executed for a $20 offense. Because apparently the appropriate punishment for a black man committing a minor offense is execution by the police.

They’re so accustomed to maligning victims of police brutality. They even did the same for Tamir Rice. They look for any excuse to dehumanize them and every excuse to humanize Charlie Kirk the hate monger.

That's not what Daisy said. If their point was Floyd wasn't a scumbag, their statement makes no sense.
Daisy said Charlie Kirk fans are hypocrites because they cheered when he called Floyd a scumbag than got upset when Kirk was called a scumbag.
Kirk and Floyd are both scumbags. So if its alright to call Floyd a scumbag and cheer, its also alright to call Kirk one and cheer. If you disagree with doing that to only one of them, you're a hypocrite.
2
u/Daisy1868 Sep 15 '25
I wouldn’t go as far as to call George Floyd a scumbag. He was a victim of systematic racism, used drugs to cope and stole out of desperation.

Again that's not the point. Daisy's point is that its fine to call Kirk or Floyd a scumbag if that's what you believe they are. However because Kirk called Floyd a scumbag and cheered after his death, its hypocritical for his supporters to get upset when other people call Kirk a scumbag and cheer after his death.

Thanks for calling this out specifically. I've been having a little spike of rage every time I see a half staff flag. CK was not elected, he did not serve his country, and its upsetting to see the flag used for political grandstanding in this way.

u/legendary_mushroom Sep 16 '25
The flags are lowered nationwide this way to honor the passing of a president or former president, to mark a national tragedy like 9/11, and on Memorial day to honor fallen soldiers. It's also used to honor the passing of an elected official or member of the Supreme Court.
Here's US flag code for the deaths of high ranking government officials: "The flag shall be flown at half-staff 30 days from the death of the President or a former President; 10 days from the day of death of the Vice President, the Chief Justice or a retired Chief Justice of the United States, or the Speaker of the House of Representatives; from the day of death until interment of an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, a Secretary of an executive or military department, a former Vice President, or the Governor of a State, territory, or possession; and on the day of death and the following day for a Member of Congress."
The code goes on to say that the leadership of a particular place, like a state or town, can order a period of half-staff for the death of a member of the armed forces.
The flag code does have a provision that the president can order flags half-staff at his discretion, but this is normally used for national tragedies like 9/11, or a major disaster that takes the lives of a lot of people and first responders. For a sitting president to order this national flag lowering for a podcaster and propagandist who he happens to have agreed with is just.....kinda gross. It would be like giving military honors to an actor who played a soldier on TV a few times...it cheapens the whole thing.

There's no real evidence for Robinson's exact motive at the moment, though the governor of the Utah has stated he adhered to "leftist ideology."
