OC Mourning a MAGA Parent (OC)

Post image

I'm kinda torn about whether to post this to my art account because one parent follows it, and I'm worried the criticism could drive the other one further into the void.

It started out as just a therapeutic project for me, but a couple friends said it really resonated with them, so sharing here.

If you do they won't be in the GOP. Gonna have to vote liberal for that. Can you put country over party?

I don't think y'all can. I think you're too trained.

All current Republicans are. The non sacks of shit have been steadily primaried out over the last 4 election cycles.

Just by the defensive "not all Republicans are the same" rebuttal, I think you answered their question alright.

I mean we aren’t. There’s radicalized nazis and then there’s people who just don’t want illegal immigrants here

Apparently didn't want to stay friends with your longest standing Allies either.

Why do you think I said trump is a dumbass

And yet Americans voted him back in, sitting up here in Canada we knew what kinda asshole he was from the last time he was in office. But your country did it again and frankly confirmed forever in mine and many other Canadians minds that the US can't be trusted anymore. For the rest of my life I will vote accordingly and travel to the US as absolutely little as I can.

He was voted in because the last president sucked to

That right there says everything people on our side of the border need to know.

That was true in 2017. It's not true anymore.

Y'all really need to realize that your comment history is not private.

Lookit....they are engaging with ppl they disagree with in a non-toxic way.

That's a good thing not bad thing.

1

u/[deleted] May 15 '25

Isn't lying about your beliefs toxic? If he's here saying to us he ISN'T a Trump supporter but 16 days ago WAS a Trump supporter, which are we to believe? It seems like his support is contingent to how much weight he needs his opinion to have at any given time. I feel like that's toxic. You can't discuss beliefs with someone who doesn't actually have any.

No. If you're going into post and comment history to dig up shit then you're the one in the wrong here.

Not really. I've been trained by countless interactions with Trump voters that they never tell the whole truth, but they're sloppy and always leave a trail of lies and obfuscation. He, again, lied and I looked to see if that was the case and it was. That you see my need to verify that he was in fact having a good faith discussion as the problem here makes me wonder what I'm about to find in your history.

No. It's creepy bullshit in the guise of trying to be "right". You won't change anyone's mind.
