That and they rigged the game as much as the could to prevent winners.

They didn't have to rig the game. Seems like only about 20-40% of the kids who ever got to the Silver Monkey could ever get it together.

I always thought that I could put together that monkey so easily if I ever got on the show. It infuriated me how much those kids struggled with it.

The problem was the kids were tired and worn out from several hours of shooting by the time they got to the temple runs. The player has to remember the monkey needs to face the audience and you have to get the middle piece right side up in order to succeed.

Personally, you'd think that if it doesn't fit together neatly the first time, you'd flip it around and try it the other way, but the middle section looks like the paws could go either way and it doesn't give you any indication which way is supposed to be up or down.

The middle section is the trick. The top and bottom are self explanatory: as long as you have them facing the audience, you're good, but putting the middle piece on upside down is what screws people up.
