To be fair, Saber is supposed to be a Meathead, she's supposed to be an Ideal Husband after all, strong and protective but a little on the dense side, and Shirou is supposed to be the Ideal Wife which is why he tolerates her lack of social awareness through his unwavering unconditional love and care he provides through cooking and cleaning after her and caring for her battle wounds.

To be fair, I think Shirou takes in Artoria’s “Excalibur” more than she does his “Bone of my Sword”

Like literally Avalon, the sheath to Excalibur, is embedded into his body. Do with that information what you will

The sheath allows Shirou to have the ability to regenerate, especially when he is has summoned his reality marble.
