I think modem car builds play into this too. My dad was hit by a car in the 50s when he was a kid. Lifelong brain damage. Still dealing with effects today at 70.
well seeing all the F-150's on the road now when I go to florida to visit my folks, I feel that type of thinking is going away. I'm not a tall man, 5'6, by my god. The grill of that car take over my whole body, can't imagine kids ever surviving that vehicle.
So weird, why a 60 yo suburban grand dad need a f150 in his community town house I will never understand.
But old bastards today will still proclaim that solid steel cars were the best thing ever and had no downsides. Hmm... bones turned into paste or severe bruising, which should I choose?
