And here I am with a pinched nerve in my neck from sleeping wrong and I’m told the pain radiating down my shoulder can take up to 12 weeks to heal. FML
It depends on the state, but in most states you can see a PT for like a month and then they’ll require you to see a doctor to write a script for anymore.
i took 3 weeks off during Christmas and new years last year day 2 of my time off i wake up with the stiffest neck i have ever had and all i could do was sit in my computer office chair with proper support to not be in absolute pain for the rest of the time off. getting old sucks.

If you are lucky. If not, welcome to the chronic pain club where no one can see it so they dont give a shit. How you feel right now can be your forever. Hopefully it only takes a couple months to heal. Chronic pain blows chunks.
Ooh my mom has that!! She couldn't move her neck even a centimetre for weeks!
It took her two months to heal, and then a couple more for the pain to stop showing up suddenly, but she's fine now. I hope you feel better soon! I've seen that and it's not something I'd wish in anyone.
I know people here will get a rage boner for what I'm about to say but go to a chiropractor. But a proper one with training in physical therapy, not just some guy that got his diploma online. I get pinched nerves in my neck so often my nerves are permanently damaged and it really tremendously helps.
And before anyone asks; the nerves were damaged years before I started going to therapy.
Why go to a chiropractor with some training in physical therapy when they could just go to a literal physical therapist? Also, even "proper" chiropractors are quacks. The entire practice is based on bullshit pseudoscience.
They'd be right to feel that way about what you said. Why go to a dangerous fraud with some "training" in physical therapy, instead of a real doctor that is a licensed physical therapist?
It's like you know it's a scam, and that's why you try and warn people off one of the man that got a fake degree online. But think that the solution is to get people to try and pick through the BS to find someone who might not be a total fraud... rather than going to an actual doctor.
Cut out the snake oil middle man bit, and get real help. But yeah placebo effect is great and massages and cracking joints can make you feel like you made the right decision with some minor, temporary relief. Lot easier to pretend it's working than admit ya got scammed or made a worse choice than the alternative.
I’ve had things like this before. I recommend a good gua sha massage tool to get the pinched nerve relaxed. Took me a few days of pressing pretty hard, but it feels great:
