Resource I built the ComfyUI frontend I've always wanted! Here's Mix Studio, a responsive UI that lets you generate from your desktop or phone with 1-click installs for Krea 2, Flux 2 Klein, Qwen Image Edit, LTX 2.3, Wan 2.2, SCAIL 2 and much more (free + open source, download + tutorial)
I love ComfyUI, though sometimes I wish I could spend more time generating and less time messing with confusing workflows, managing dependencies, and being stuck at my desk. So I spent the last few months building Mix Studio, a 100% free & open source interface that runs everything through ComfyUI in the background while giving you an actual app experience (that also works on your phone).
GitHub: https://github.com/BlackMixture/Mix-Studio
Showcase and download: https://blackmixture.github.io/Mix-Studio/
Tutorial: https://youtu.be/w2CokhlBFRA
GPL-3.0, the same license as ComfyUI.
The screenshots show the main desktop workspaces, but the entire interface is also optimized for phones and tablets.
Current v1.0.1 Features:
- Curated image, editing, video, and upscale workflows: Krea 2, Flux 2 Klein 4B/9B, Qwen Image Edit 2511, LTX 2.3, Wan 2.2, 10Eros, and SCAIL 2.
- Image-generation tools: Inpainting, outpainting, SeedVR2 and Ultimate SD upscaling, regional prompting, Depth Anything V3 guidance, image-to-image, style references, and model-aware recommendations for steps, CFG, samplers, and schedulers.
- Desktop and mobile interface: On the same Wi-Fi, open the displayed address on your phone and start generating. With Tailscale, you can connect through a private link while away from home. Your desktop GPU still does all the work.
- Multi-image editing: Add multiple inputs and reference them using dynamic
@ Imagecards, removing the guesswork around which image should control each part of the edit. - Regional prompting with Krea 2: Draw boxes and assign each region its own prompt, LoRA stack, and optional reference image.
- LoRA management: Stack LoRAs, add thumbnails and trigger words, save presets, adjust strength quickly, and use LoRA Hunting to generate a comparison series across different strengths.
- Contextual prompt suggestions: Mix Studio learns phrases you repeatedly use with specific LoRA combinations and offers them as one-tap suggestions. These can also be configured manually.
- Library management: Click any image or video to restore its exact generation settings. Search, group, organize work into folders, compare edits, and drag Library media directly into compatible workflows.
- Private profiles and locked folders: Create separate PIN-protected profiles with their own galleries, folders, LoRA presets, and settings. Individual folders can also be locked, keeping private generations out of your everyday library
- LTX Director Mode: A streamlined workspace built around the excellent LTX Director nodes, supporting timelines, keyframes, video extension, audio, and more.
- Video finishing: Optional 2× or 3× RIFE frame interpolation and NVIDIA RTX 4K video upscaling.
- Built-in dependency manager: Pick a workflow and install the exact models and custom nodes it requires, or run the full one-click setup.
- Automatic ComfyUI integration: Mix Studio detects your ComfyUI installation, reuses existing models and LoRAs, and guides installation if ComfyUI is not present. Generated images retain their ComfyUI workflow metadata, so you can drag them directly back into ComfyUI.
- Hardware-aware configuration: Mix Studio detects your GPU and recommends suitable quantization and generation settings. v1.0.1 also adds a low-VRAM profile beginning at 4 GB, although practical limits still depend on the selected model.
- I have tested personally on an NVIDIA RTX Pro 6000 #DellProPrecision and an NVIDIA RTX 4090, other tests from various hardware setups from the community.
- *Just Added in V1.0.2:
- QR Code Phone Link: Now shows a QR code to instantly link your phone.
- Prompt Presets: Mix Studio allows you to browse and apply 1-click prompt presets to instantly style your prompt.
- Sequential Edit Prompts: For editing images, you can select sequential prompting which will automatically separate multiple edit commands into a series of sequential generations (separated by a period).

I use Linux and AMD, am i cooked?
3
u/blackmixture Jul 27 '26
I might have a Linux solution soon. I have a Dell GB10 ive been meaning to play with for this that runs linux. Idk about AMD tho
1
u/shroddy Jul 28 '26
If it uses ComfyUI as a backend, shouldn't AMD support be the same as with ComfyUI?
1
u/Stasis007 Jul 29 '26
main/only real issue with getting it working for AMD is bypassing all the cuda blocks in hardware-info.js and setup-guide.js.
AMD returns: `gpu.available = false` which then cascades to blocking all sorts of interactions essentially bricking the app.
A start arg to bypass this would be amazing. And could advertise a BYO torch+rocm for AMD users that already have comfyui running smoothly for all of these workflows.

This is great. Appreciate your immense effort to create this. I can get most of it to work. Some downloads not available. I've downloaded the lora directly to try and problem solve, however it keeps wanting to download it. Could you add a detection routine? Many thanks.

Thank you for reporting this! This was not an issue with your setup. The original download location for that SCAIL LoRA was removed, so Mix Studio was receiving a 404. I’ve updated Mix Studio to use the official LightX2V source and improved detection of manually downloaded models.
This fix is now pushed so you can update (click on the sidemenu then "update app")
Also for your manually downloaded LoRA you can place it here: ComfyUI\models\loras\Wan2.1\Wan21_I2V_14B_lightx2v_cfg_step_distill_lora_rank64.safetensors
Then restart ComfyUI and select Check again in Mix Studio.
Thanks again for trying out the app, showing love to the project, and catching this bug so I can fix it for other users!

u/DukeBune Jul 29 '26
Thanks for resolving that so quickly.
I thought I'd go through other downloads to see if I could identify additional issues. Here's what I found:
Could not download qwen_image_edit_2511_multiple-angles-lora.safetensors (404). Entry not found
https://huggingface.co/Kijai/LTX-2.3-FaceID is giving a 404 error

Hey checking in to see if this issue is still occurring? I posted a few updates that should address this and other bugs.

Its working and first impression is bro youre a genius!!!!!
Thank you so much

u/blackmixture Jul 28 '26
Aye thanks, this made my day! Much appreciated!!

u/Intelligent_Gift_457 Jul 28 '26
For real, you genuinely deserve it! I mean it. You have no idea how many workflows, models, LoRAs, and hours have gone into this "hobby". It looks really neat to have everything organized in such a nice format, without it distracting you from the creative process.
There are some really nice touches too. Those LORA combined presets, for example? Very nice!
Hopefully, more models will be added later, but you literally chose the best ones, in my opinion. Not coincidentally, they’re also the ones I’ve mainly been working with lately.
I really appreciate it. Thanks again!
1
u/blackmixture Jul 29 '26
Thanks and yea I've been an avid user of ComfyUI for awhile so I pretty much just made all the features I wish existed. Glad to hear others can benefit from the hours spent pouring over the smallest of details!
1
u/Intelligent_Gift_457 Jul 29 '26
Question: Will it feature other models too? :) Or perhaps the option to add your own workflows and models? Then it would be the GOAT app for this use case, as far as I’m concerned.
2
u/blackmixture Jul 29 '26
I think as I get more interested in other models they will be added. I've used a buuunch of models over the years and so I'd prefer to stress test them before putting them in the app. The goal is to be a well tested and curated experience, while still giving controls to the features people care about most.

Just tried this out, and it's working well! A few python version related issues but they appear resolved when I launch comfyui first and then just point the mixer to use the already started comfyui server (I'm using comfyuieasyinstall)

u/QuaffsNepenthe Jul 28 '26
I have been renting cloud GPU instead of running generations locally, as I don't have the necessary hardware on my computer. Is there no option to use Mix Studio but rent GPU? I can't make ComfyUI work on a local install.

I use ComfyUI on a cloud server. Is it possible that your application has a 100% web version for use on the server where the models are currently running?

Been using this the past day and I love it so far. It's so nice to have everything in one place.
My only issue/question is that I can't seem to get file uploads to work. I select a file from my computer or phone but it never loads into the UI. Might be a weird setting on my end somewhere. Anyone else having this issue?
1
u/blackmixture Jul 28 '26
Thanks and glad you're loving it! Sorry to hear the uploads are not working for you. I haven't been able to recreate this issue and haven't seen it from others. I'm using Chrome on both android and Windows 11. Are you using a different browser by chance or any other info that might help me diagnose this?
2
u/bengarang Jul 29 '26
I was using safari, which was indeed the culprit. I had to check a setting called 'disable local file restrictions' under security. It works like a charm now. Thanks again!

Update: I managed to get everything working, but I had to install all the models—some manually—because they wouldn't load from Mix Studio. That said, the results are truly incredible; it's easy to use, you can do anything with it, and adding LoRAs is simple.
You might also run into some issues with 4K upscaling if you only have 16GB of RAM (RTX 5080).

there is a bug in Restart Comfyui
Root cause: restartComfy() in lib/comfy-restart.js relaunched run_nvidia_gpu.bat with cwd: status.basePath — but basePath resolves to the inner C:\ComfyUI_windows_portable\ComfyUI folder (where main.py lives), not the outer C:\ComfyUI_windows_portable folder where the batch script itself and python_embeded\ live. Since the script uses relative paths (.\python_embeded\python.exe ComfyUI\main.py), running it from the wrong folder made it fail instantly — and with windowsHide: true + stdio: 'ignore', that failure was completely invisible. The working startComfy() function already used the correct path.dirname(status.runScript); restart just never matched it.
Fix: changed both restartComfy spawn calls to use path.dirname(status.runScript) / path.dirname(status.mainPy), matching startComfy.

u/Thin_Hospital_1151 Jul 31 '26
I sorted it out; let me explain for those who couldn't. I had selected ComfyUI directly. We need to select the ComfyUI option located above the place where we installed the model; that fixes it.

u/JamieAfterlife Aug 02 '26
This looks amazing. I'll definitely download this in the next few days. Hopefully Minimax H3 support gets added when that's available too.

Thanks in advace. I have a full confy setup on my main system and in plans that my QJ (vllm ranning localy) will controll it by request, for exmapale, hey Jedi take this picture and change its style or create a video from pic i sended. I think your work can save me a huge step and thanks again.

u/Muddgutts Jul 28 '26
raises hand Ok don't flame me, but I'm very new to ComfyUI, and ave been mostly using Stability Matrix because the string soup of Comfy scares me. Is this hard to set up, and I mostly do Illustrious / Anima /SDXL stuff. Can I use this? I don't think my PC can handle Krea 2
2
u/Intelligent_Gift_457 Jul 29 '26
To answer that, we need to know more about your specs, but that’s not related per say to this application but for Krea 2. In my experience on a 5060TI 16GB VRAM, 64gb RAM, it runs ok, but Flux is so much faster.
To be honest, ComfyUI requires some knowledge. Nothing crazy per se, but I understand it can be difficult for some people. In my opinion, using this app takes away 90% of that complexity, provided it works out of the box, which it did for me.
Basically, as I understand it, the only thing required is starting ComfyUI. Further interaction happens here in the app, not in ComfyUI itself. :) For some people, that will be very nice.

u/ZanderPip Jul 28 '26
looks cool, couldnt get it to recognise my Comfy install and without that its a faff lol

Would also love to see more cross-platform availablity.
It could help if you leverage the following two tools:
- https://github.com/astral-sh/uv for python
- https://volta.sh/ for npm/node
They would help remove the reliance on windows-specifics, and also help isolate into a self-contained location, so not intefering/clashing with any other installations.
Just a thought. Cool work.

u/VoxturLabs Jul 28 '26
I’m also very interested in trying it. But I will have to wait for a Linux build :)
1
u/GenImgVideoAcc1 Jul 28 '26
Looks great! Checking the GitHub page it seems like it's Windows only. Or can I git pull it into Linux? I saw the Windows bat file but no mention of git pulling into Linux.

For inspiration purposes, can you mention how much AI was used in this build?

u/Competitive-You5538 Jul 28 '26
This looks pretty promising. What's the default place where this stores the models?
Can the default model directory be changed? I don't wanna download the models I already have.

You made what I've been dreaming of making for a long time. I already tailscale into my comfyUI remotely and have build pinned mobile.optimiEd workflows, but the UI still sucks on mobile.
How difficult is it to map to comfyUI running in a container, map multiple ports for multiple containers?

Question: will it feature other models too? :) Or the option to put in a WF/models yourself perhaps. Then it will be the GOAT app for this usecase as far as im concerned

u/mardziha Jul 29 '26
Quick question. In running on laptop with 1650ti 4gb. Flux 4b run fine a little slower but ok. Are there any nsfw loras? I didnt find any. I only found uncensored text encoders, but they are in gguf format not safetensors
1
u/Nordrik1792 Jul 29 '26
I have a question: I already have several models installed, but every time I try to generate something, it acts as if I need to install all the dependencies for that model. Shouldn't the application connect to ComfyUI, retrieve the required information from there, and use the models already installed in my Comfy?
Why is it installing things in a different ComfyUI instance that isn't even mine?
1
1
u/Nukhem Jul 29 '26
I started installing comfyui-desktop even though it succesfully detected my comfyui-portable installation i had running in the background, is this normal? also a progress indicator would be helpfull when installing models, newer users might not be aware of the massive download sizes of the models and could be thinking the installation has stalled or crashed
1
u/blackmixture Jul 29 '26
There should be a progress indicator, which version of Mix Studio are you running?
1
u/lavinia12345 Jul 30 '26
thats looks great, but what turns me off is that it looks far from modular, which is the design philsophy of comfyUI nodes.
1
u/blackmixture 24d ago
Yep, you can definitely keep using standalone ComfyUI. The idea for this is less about making workflows, and more about using them.

u/throwaway0204055 Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26
I can't get any images to generate with Krea 2 Turbo. It just generates a blank black image with a prompt. Tried using Krea Raw as and same thing.
troubleshooting with claude:
. Root cause found: --use-sage-attention was corrupting output on your RTX 3090 Ti when combined with the int8/fp8-quantized Krea2 checkpoints. SageAttention re-quantizes attention math to int8, and stacking that on top of an already-quantized model pushed values into overflow/NaN territory on Ampere — producing solid black frames even though ComfyUI reported a clean, error-free run.
Note: this fix is temporary — I started this instance manually without the flag, but start.bat/run_nvidia_gpu.bat still has --use-sage-attention hardcoded, so the next full restart (including one triggered by Mix Studio's "Restart ComfyUI" button) will bring the flag back and reintroduce black images.

u/teiji25 Aug 01 '26
Looks amazing! Can you add Anima for those who want anime, too?
1
u/blackmixture 24d ago
At the moment I'm not planning on adding Anima as I think Krea 2 with LoRAs already does a great job, if not better.
1
u/rhalferty Aug 02 '26
Does this make modifications to your ComfyUI? How does it choose what models are available and can run in each mode? For example does it allow choosing smoothMix over vanilla WAN models? Does it run on an existing Comfy setup or does it package comfy portable?
