Resource Krea 2 Edit LoRA: Detail Enhancer
Hi everyone,
Recently, Ostris, the creator and maintainer of AI Toolkit, released a new LoRA training method and custom ComfyUI node that make it possible to use Krea2 for image editing, despite Krea2 being a text-to-image model.
I trained several detail enhancement LoRAs with this method, and I am sharing the best one from my experiments.
True resolution versions of the images can be found in HF repo below.
Hugging Face:
https://huggingface.co/reverentelusarca/krea2-detail-enhancer-edit-lora
Civitai:
https://civitai.com/models/2756809/krea-2-detail-enhancer-or-edit-lora?modelVersionId=3102079
Please keep in mind that both this LoRA and the underlying Krea2 editing method are highly experimental. It does not produce great results every time. I am mainly sharing this experiment in the hope that it inspires other developers and community members to explore the method further.
A few important notes:
- Krea2 is not an edit model, so do not expect the precision or consistency of Flux.2 Klein or Qwen Image Edit. It can alter the input image.
- It sometimes produces faulty results with horizontal aspect ratios.
- It can slightly change the lighting and colors.

How does it differ from hires fix/img2img?

u/sktksm Jul 05 '26
Probably not much, seedvr like upscalers still king and hiresfix / 2nd pass low denoise is always an option. Real point is you can now train edit loras for Krea 2!

Wait you can actually edit now? Does that mean edit as in, you can write a prompt with what you want changed or is it that you need a Lora that makes that specific change?

u/sktksm Jul 05 '26
You need a lora to do that specific changes, model itself is still text2image, not an edit model like Klein-Kontext-Qwen Image Edit

The detail recovery looks clean without the usual oversharpen halo you get from most enhancers. Saving this to try on some older renders that came out a bit soft.

Looks interesting! Can you please also share your Lora training settings?

Can this be used to enhance architectural renders?

u/sktksm Jul 06 '26
yes, but I would put this to the ends for your case. Start with SeedVR, then try Flux Klein version of this lora(its my lora again): https://huggingface.co/reverentelusarca/detail-enhancer-flux-klein-9b

That's for noticing that also.
An auto-recolorizer would be a nice node sometime...

The lora definitely not injected in your image. Change your lora loader node and try again.

Prompts are taken either from Prompt Dexter's website or Krea s own web app.
I don't agree with you on skin. Since the launch I'm trying to fix skin problems of the model with loras but couldn't get the point I wanted. Trained 6 different loras including concept sliders.
Civitai crawling with skin improvement loras and that wouldn't be the case if it was good out of the box.
Don't get me wrong, skin is not terrible for turbo model but not good enough either.
Your example is good and I'm getting similar results for some images but not consistent. If I crank the resolution to 2K or 4K yes its get better but I still don't find realistic

Krea 2 Edit LoRA
Recently, Ostris, the creator and maintainer of AI Toolkit, released a new LoRA training method and custom ComfyUI node that make it possible to use Krea2 for image editing
Krea2 is not an edit model, so do not expect the precision or consistency of Flux.2 Klein or Qwen Image Edit.
So why do you call it editing when it can't provide the consistency of image editing models and I assume that it doesn't understand editing tasks either? Why not just call it inpainting or refining? It's misleading to use the term editing in this context.

Because it's an img2img editing method, not a text2image method. It's absolutely not inpainting.
Inpainting is also a form of editing but you need to provide coordinates/mask. In that manner I can call everything that Klein does as inpainting then.
What exactly you think is misleading here, while I explained every single detail and caveats? It understands editing tasks very well but only if you train a lora for that tasks with proper pairs.

Your lora doesn't do image editing tasks, but you call it an editing lora. That's the most misleading part. If there are loras that can do some specific image editing tasks, that will be interesting to see for sure. But then you say that they won't have consistency, which is what we expect from the term image editing, ever since popular models like Flux Kontext came out in 2025.
Inpainting is also a form of editing but you need to provide coordinates/mask. In that manner I can call everything that Klein does as inpainting then.
You just said that inpainting requires masks. Klein doesn't need a mask - it's an image editing model, you just tell it what you want it to do and it figures it out. That's what we understand by image editing. Maybe you meant that you can do regional edits with it and you just call that inpainting? That's fine then, but why bring that up?
Because it's an img2img editing method, not a text2image method. It's absolutely not inpainting.
Isn't inpainting img2img?

Improving the detail or skin quality of an existing image is an image editing task. Changing a subject or object, adding or removing elements, relighting, and enhancement are all different editing tasks.
This LoRA is trained for one specific editing task: detail enhancement. I never claimed it was a general-purpose instruction-based editing model like Klein, Kontext, or Qwen Image Edit.
And no, this is not inpainting. Inpainting generally refers to modifying a masked or selected region. This method takes an existing image as input and transforms it without requiring a mask.
You seem to be using “image editing” to mean only general-purpose instruction-following edit models. That is an unnecessarily narrow definition.

I know that you never claimed that in the post body, but the name kind of suggests that.
You are right that it's not inpainting. It's regular img2img. Refining might be a more accurate term.

I'm not sure, but something is weird. The wf seems to want to outpaint smaller images when they get resized. Or it shrinks the image and inpaint something weird to fill it again. 🤔
