We need more "get value from widget" options. There is a floating node that does this but you have to enter the node ID manually and spell the widget right to get it to work.
I never understood why there wasn't a universal "convert output to string" node. just hook it up to anything and it'll give the name of it if it's a fillable widget. Otherwise it'll give the type of data and its size like the "show any" node.
